    Hi all,

My wife had her citizenship interview this morning at 10AM at the Greer, SC field office.  She passed her interview and civics and reading/writing tests with no problem.  When we started to leave they told us to hang out for a few more minutes. Another lady was just finishing up her interview.  About 10 minutes later they called my wife and this other lady back and the lady at the reception desk called me over and had me look back through the glass.  My wife and this other lady were taking their Oath.  While it certainly wasn't the big ceremonies you see on TV, I was just as proud.  Our long journey is finally over.

I sincerely have to Thank the mods and admins here on VisaJourney.  Honestly I don't know if I could have gotten us through this whole process from K-1 to Citizen without you folks.  God bless you all and may you keep doing what you do for a very long time.

They haven't opened biometrics offices yet. A few open on July 13, but most of them open on July 20 or July 27. Many who had their original appointment cancelled can probably look forward to getting their new appointments within a month or so. The rest of us (I'm a May filer) will likely have to wait a few more months.

Hello Everyone, As we all know ASC are finally opening this month, that being said, many of us who are currently waiting on Biometric Notice, I would like to have this thread open so we can all track the Biometric status depending on the ASC location, that way it helps those within the same community sort of get an update or have expectations on the timeline of each office. I know is not all the same and we will have different process depending on your situation, but it helps. Thanks. I myself will post on here as soon as I see something moving in the NY Long Island (ASC)

Apparently, USCIS just wanted to play with my emotions. My husband's status changed to "Interview was Scheduled" yesterday. The letter just dropped into my husband's account this morning. His interview has been rescheduled (third time) for the exact same date and time as the one they canceled last week. So in theory our interview is July 13th.

I'm seeing most are opening on July 20th. A bit later than the July 13th day they original mentioned, but at least there is some news at all. We have to be happy with even minor progress at this point.

It's possible they can re-use biometrics if you had them taken less than 15 months ago. From the USCIS site:

No idea why they picked that day. It's also a "phased re-opening" so not even all offices will open that day. I don't really know what "phased" means here but my assumption is not all will open the same day?

Just wondering if anyone knows if applications are still being worked on/processed without Biometrics complete? My appointment for my biometrics was two days after the shutdown - now wondering if they  were still working on it with biometrics pending ?

    Hey!

Assuming this is my last post to this group... ROC LIN case, filed March, 2019/approved May 22, 2020.

App status changed May 29 PM to "Card Was Delivered To Me By The Post Office"...and indeed it was! Arrived by USPS Priority Mail @ 2:30 PM.

Mailed K-1 visa application on April 13, 2016...4+ years later, permanent green card in hand. Its been a long road full of anxiety, confusion, hard work, and frustration! But we're so very happy to be where we are today! Just a bit farther to go...N-400 filed in March. Just waiting now for biometrics appt to be re-scheduled, then interview,    citizenship test, and oath; USCIS online acct shows estimated case completion time August 2020. We'll see...

Good luck everyone! And thank you for your insights, opinions, encouragement, and good humor over the past year+.

It looks like my old timeline was lost so, some background first. K-1 Visa in 2008, married  in 2009, removed conditions, divorced in 2015 (it's ok, we're still great friends), applied for citizenship in 2017. Flash-forward to now...

I live about an hour from Montgomery, so I allowed plenty of time to get there. I waited at a CVS and had a lunch of crisps (chips I guess I should say) and milkshake. Half an hour before the interview time, I drove the remaining distance to the USCIS building on Atlanta Highway. The building looks quite modern, and had parking for maybe 20 vehicles.

Finally, I entered the USCIS building carrying a document folder and a good book, as I was expecting a DMV-like experience. In the folder I carried my interview notice, 3 UK passports (one that expired while I was in the US, another that was an emergency single-use passport, and then my current one), my divorce decree (in case they asked about that) and printouts of 5 years of tax returns.

I was initially confused in the atrium as there was a kiosk-type machine for scheduling/rescheduling, which didn't seem to have any options pertaining to attending an interview. Eventually I figured out I needed the door on the right. Passing through, I was greeted by 2 security guards.
The first guard asked for my notice and ID, then briefed me on all the kinds of weapons and explosives that are not permitted to be brought in. Then the second guard guided me through the metal detector process. The process is just like an airport screening, except you don't have to take your shoes off. That's probably for the best as my boots had been quite stinky lately.

After putting all my items back on my person I walked to the waiting room. There's seating for maybe 50 people and the waiting room has adjoining restrooms. There were 2 immigration officers in the waiting room. One was looking for a particular applicant, who I guess was running late. The other was at the back helping another applicant schedule their oath ceremony. The staff seemed cheerful and supportive which was reassuring.

Bang on time for my interview, a third officer emerged and called my name. He showed me through a secure door and into a small office. The officer invited me to sit at one of the 2 guest chairs at his desk, then asked to see my notice and green card. He seemed friendly but also very by-the-book.

The officer asked if I'd prefer to do the test or the interview first, saying that most people opt for the test just to get it out of the way. I chose to do the interview first, and he instructed me to stand and swear an oath that I would answer all questions truthfully. Next, he went through my application and asked me to affirm some of the basic details like name, address and place of employment. Then he asked a series of the yes/no "am I an awful person" questions.

Satisfied with my answers, the officer moved on to the test. After having a year to study 100 questions, I have to say this was the easiest part of the whole thing. After 6 consecutive correct answers, we did the final part which is the written/oral/English test. I was aksed to read a short sentence, then to write down a sentence the officer had spoken.

The officer passed me a printed out sheet and said I'd passed. Next he outlined the next steps, saying I'd receive a letter to advise of my scheduled oath ceremony which would be back at the same location in about 3 or 4 months.

I checked my watch - the whole thing had taken 15 minutes. Great! I was even able to beat the rush hour traffic and got home 2 hours earlier than expected!

HI and sorry if I missed this discussion … curious to know: why didn't Application Support Centers open on June 4th along with Field Offices? Why the delay? Any word on when they may open besides "Application support centers will resume services later."

Noom's N-400 biometrics appt was scheduled for April 2 but then canceled due to Covid-19. Since his biometrics for ROC was completed on Sept 20, 2019 (9 mos ago), I'm assuming they may decide to re-use the biometrics and move him along to the interview stage...just waiting to hear something, anything.

    Thanks,

VJ updates their timelines based on what us members enter. So everyone you see posting & asking questions without a timeline affects the accuracy of what you are looking at. That's why for this site it's so important to have an updated timeline- so frustrating when people ask about their personal timeframe and they never bother to create theirs!!!

I've had "clients" at the immigration clinic who filed one tax transcript, a birth certificate for a newborn and a total of 7 or 8 extra pages get approved and people with 100 pages get an RFE.  My observation, based on multiple cases, is a new child is a very helpful positive.

It is all about how it is presented.  Mary and I are about to submit ours in July and there is less then 15 pages that will be included.  We don't file taxes together.  She is a licensed caregiver, nursing student, and has been vetted for those as well as Global Entry and TWIC programs.

You can’t compare your case to anyone else’s and you also cannot judge a case based on surface-level information that’s may or may not even be accurate. Each case is unique. One couple might actually need a binder of evidence and still gets asked for more, whilst other couples are so low risk that commingling finances are convincing enough.

Your case is already approved so I’m unsure why this would matter to anyone but the adjudicator. Be happy for those with uncomplicated approvals and hope for the best for those still waiting. That’s all there is to it.
