In my case my insurance card only shows my name as policy holder and not my husbands, so I went online to my insurance portal and looked for something that would show the overview of benefits and show my husband as beneficiary. One of my insurances actually offers a "verification of coverage letter" which has all the important info.  For the rest, I had to ask my HR department to help me. I told them I needed a verification of coverage letter from the insurance companies that included my beneficiary listed.

If the marriage was bona fide at the time of marriage, it doesn’t matter what happens past that. Sometimes things don't work out, it sucks, but it happens.

if you marry a US guy and it doesn’t work out and he has a slide fling, you divorce and move on. Probably will still live in the same city, potentially will see each other in the future.

It’s amazing that if you marry an international guy and it doesn’t work out, you divorce and want him out of the country.

i get the “investment” but it was all your choice and again, you said it was a legit marriage.

I use mostly google news and twitter. I follow a lot of news outlets and people related to the topic like USCIS, ACLU and so on, and so I'm usually up to date. Also I have cnn installed just to get their "breaking news" notifications in general. Google news has been the place where I've gotten the most information about immigration though. Because it's "smart", if you look enough times about immigration topics then you start to organically get more news about it without having to search for it. And finally in the google news app, you can search for USCIS to get the most updated stuff on the topic and then "favorite" it.

I finally got my NOA!! And by the look of it they sent it to my old address and it got sent back to them. They’ve resent it to the correct address. We changed our address and filed all the forms including sponsor’s change of address but nope still sent it to my old address *sigh*.

My notice is dated July 20th.

Hello fellow July 2018 files -

I see some familiar names here from about 2 years ago....Good luck to all.

We sent our I-751 on July 30 by USPS, it was received on August 2nd.
As of yesterday, the check had not been cashed yet. My wife's green card expires September 28.

Like several others have posted, our 120 notice was also sent to our previous address. I still have the confirmation email from the change of address request last year, so I called them. I was told that it is normal for mail to go to the address that was initially on file but not to worry because all mail pertaining to the I-751 will be sent to the  address on that application. Makes no sense to me, but I guess it doesn't have to.

Compared to what others sent in with their package ours was relatively small. Very basic but covered all the items that were mentioned on the USCIS website. We do have a child together, so we're hoping that will help our case.

    Hello everyone,
For those who are worried about not receiving anything after changing your address- we got our NOA yesterday; two weeks after our package was received by CSC. Good luck to everyone else waiting!

They should send the letter to the address you put in your petition. I can see why they used your old address for the 120 day reminder since it was in your original i485 but for this new one, I don’t believe so.
Give it a couple of weeks before panicking and also maybe keep in contact with the new tenants in your old address?

    good luck

I guess if my check gets cashed but I don't receive a NOA within about a week, I'll give them a call to check on address. Crossing my fingers I won't have to though. I moved within town so I hope that saves me if they don't change it themselves...

Horror story because I would have expected USCIS to be more professional and not handle these documents like we handle manuals for recently bought appliances.. They are responsible for peoples future here .. I understand that it is not easy job but it is not suppose to be.

I had somewhat the reversed issue. All my US documents (GC, SSN, DL) have my married name, but my chilean passport will always be under my maiden name. I didn't have trouble entering/leaving the country while going through customs, BUT I DID HAVE ONE PROBLEM with the airline. The rule is that the name on the flight ticket must match the document you are using to travel. So, if you are going abroad, the document you are using is a passport: make sure the ticket is booked under the passport name. If you fly domestic and use your driver license, make sure it matches the license.. etc. They actually made a big fuzz and kinda scared me, and they told me that having a passport name not match the ticket/green card was a big deal and that I could have problems. I never did, except for them, but I now I will fly with my marriage license just in case when I use my passport. Eventually the airline changed my name on the ticket to my maiden name for free (costs $200 if you buy the ticket through Expedia or similar websites) so that it would match my passport.

I asked other women from my country who have been married if they had experienced this, and had various responses. Some said that US Customs held them and gave them a hard time, but eventually let them go.. Others said that they had to show the marriage license, others said they never had an issue.

It's the law that you gotta keep your address updated, as far as I know this will stay so for the rest of your life, or maybe it ends once you naturalize.

But also, you have to file for ROC in two years and you will have to update your address then anyway. Since you are required to update your address within 10 days of moving, you'll either have to lie about your moving date, which could mess up all the evidence timeline and it's also just wrong, or you'll have to admit you took two years to update it. I don't actually think they care much about it, but why on earth would anybody want to risk anything with USCIS. It's a quick process, pretty much the only thing that USCIS doesn't make painfully hard to do. And another reminder, the sponsor also must keep the address updated for as long as they are your sponsor.

Your plan as mentioned above isn’t the best timing wise. If finances are an issue it will be better for you to visit on ESTA, get married, apply for a spousal visa, leave and wait for it to be processed while working in Europe. You can still always visit while it’s being processed. It should take around 12-14 months to finish. Bonus points you get to enter as a permanent resident eligible to start working in day 1.

pantonia reacted to Mari181 in My green card has been denied because of the doctors mistakes!
Hi everyone! I want to share my green card story. My area is Oakland park.
I entered the US by the K1 visa on December  2015. My husband (US citizen) and me got married on January 2016.
On February 2016 we sent my paper work (we had a lawyer) to USCIS and on November 2016 we had an interview.
The interview was very friendly, a woman was very nice, she asked just two regular questions. At the end she said that everything is fine, but while we were waiting for the interview,  my medical exam had been expired and that I will need to to the medical test again.
So we quickly did the medical and sent it to USCIS (the doctor refused to give me the copies, she said that she is not allowed to). Later we received a notice from  USCIS saying that the surgeon did not fill the line for the Gonorrhea test result, she just simply left it blank!
We went to the doctor again and asked her to refill the form, so she "did"...We sent it to USCIS and then we got a denial!!!! By that time we traveled and when we were returning to the US, I was stopped on the passport control, they asked me a lot of questions and said that my green card has been denied, my advanced parole is automatically became invalid and that I cannot enter the US any more!
We told them that we did not receive any denial notice, we checked my status online immediately and it wasn't changed! So we really did not know that I have been denied. The custom officers was very kind to us, they understood our situation and let us entered.
The denial notice said that the medical form was not fill properly and the Gonorrhea result was not mentioned!!! So the doctor did the same mistake twice!!
We did the motion to reopen on January 2017, we had to do a new medical examination but of course in another medical center. We receive an answer on December 2017 saying that decision remains unchanged!!!! They agreed that the envelope was sealed and I could not see what was in there and that it was the surgeon mistake, but I was the one who was responsible....I cant describe my pain!!!! I cant travel, I can not drive, I do not know when I will see my family in Russia!!!
The problem is that when you do the motion to reopen, you don't have any status while it is pending, so literally I was illegal for more than a year! We realized it after sometime, the lawyer did not inform us. So it was better for us to apply for adjustment of status instead of doing a motion to reopen.
So on January 2018 I did the 4th medical examination to apply for adjustment of status (permanent residency). I've already had my bio-metrics. It is being 5 month  already and I did not receive my advanced parole yet(( The timing is crazy now, I cant believe it may take up to 21.5 months!
I am not sure if I can travel after I receive my advanced parole. As I read it is a big risk, I may not be allowed to enter the US during 10 years as I stayed illegally here by the stupid mistake.

When it comes to immigration, there's never a time to "go easy" on supporting documents.  Quite the opposite---gather every piece of evidence you have.   Put it this way--- Having lots of evidence and being prepared never hurts, however having too little evidence and not being prepared can be detrimental.

Maybe. I doubt they have the resources. We've been waiting since August 2016 and know the case has been at the Seattle office for over six months. There's no way they can reasonably interview everyone, let alone within six months.

You need to wait until 30 days prior to expiration of the extension letter.  Schedule the Infopass and they will stamp her passport with an extension, again.  You will need to bring her expired green card and original extension letter.  They will take these 2 items, but you will have another year based on the stamp.  Very painless, but they only do this inside of 30 days.  I did this with my wife, youngest step-daughter just 3 weeks ago.  I also did this with my older step-daughter who lost her green card, but they stamped her passport in lieu of replacing since we are in process of ROC.  Again, painless.
