Change of Address after Green Card

Hello,

I like to know after receiving my two years Green Card, If we move to a new address, do I still need to make the changes with USCIS or wait until we apply for removal of conditions?

The alien must file an AR-11 (can be done online): https://www.uscis.gov/ar-11

Any sponsor (including the original petitioner) must file an I-865: https://www.uscis.gov/i-865

If you already have your green card in your procession and do not have an application or petition pending with USCIS i don’t know why you would inform them of an address change. The form itself asks for a receipt number which you wouldn’t have. When you file your i-751 then you will include your new address.

"All aliens subject to registration requirements must use this form to report a change of address within 10 days of such change. The collection of this information is required by Section 265 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1305"

The form can use the Alien Registration Number (A-Number).

From a practical stance, most people don't actually do it and they likely won't care. But the law as written requires the notification of a change of address.

It's the law that you gotta keep your address updated, as far as I know this will stay so for the rest of your life, or maybe it ends once you naturalize. 

 

But also, you have to file for ROC in two years and you will have to update your address then anyway. Since you are required to update your address within 10 days of moving, you'll either have to lie about your moving date, which could mess up all the evidence timeline and it's also just wrong, or you'll have to admit you took two years to update it. I don't actually think they care much about it, but why on earth would anybody want to risk anything with USCIS. It's a quick process, pretty much the only thing that USCIS doesn't make painfully hard to do. And another reminder, the sponsor also must keep the address updated for as long as they are your sponsor.

Correct. Once you're a USC, you're no longer an alien and the rules noted above no longer apply.
