Hi. We sent in our ROC paperwork for my wife last May 2017 and got a 1 year green card extension letter in June of 2017. Soon it will be a year since we started the process and from all the timelines i am seeing there is no way we will hear back anything before 1.5 years. As far as i understand we have to make an info pass appointment at the USCIS office to get another extension for the green card since the letter is good for a year only. How soon do i have to schedule the appointment? What is your experience with this?

Thank you!

You need to wait until 30 days prior to expiration of the extension letter.  Schedule the Infopass and they will stamp her passport with an extension, again.  You will need to bring her expired green card and original extension letter.  They will take these 2 items, but you will have another year based on the stamp.  Very painless, but they only do this inside of 30 days.  I did this with my wife, youngest step-daughter just 3 weeks ago.  I also did this with my older step-daughter who lost her green card, but they stamped her passport in lieu of replacing since we are in process of ROC.  Again, painless.
