Same here... It's been over a year now, and no update since he had his bio done back in July. Hopefully we will all get some news soon.

Ahmed & Amy reacted to Vengatore in N-400 October 2020 Filers
Hi guys,
I had my interview last Tuesday. It started with a few general questions about myself and my travels, and the officer took my picture and fingerprints.
The test was easy. These are the questions I was asked:
1. The idea of self-government is in the first three words of the Constitution. What are these words?
2. How old do citizens have to be to vote for President?
3. What are two ways that Americans can participate in their democracy?
4. Who was the first President?
5. Who was President during the Great Depression and World War II?
6. What major event happened on September 11, 2001, in the United States?
Unfortunately, I wasn't approved. The officer said that I needed to present more evidence of living together with my wife. He also told me that my case was solid, but as I applied after only 3 years, they needed to be extra careful (he even said that if I had filed after 5 years, I would have been approved).
So he gave me a paper with a few things that would be nice to submit, nothing really hard to get. The most annoying is that I have to get a notarized declaration from one of my neighbors saying that we have been living in our current address for the past 3 years but even that will be relatively easy to obtain.
Good luck everyone!

Ahmed & Amy got a reaction from FamilyS in Which mailing address while apply for I130 living abroad?
USCIS had us change our mailing address to my US address, although I am living with my husband abroad. So in the end I had to have it changed to my US address anyways (my parents address- temporary address).

I think I read somewhere on this forum that Atlanta, GA is the original field office while Montgomery, AL is a sub-field of Atlanta. I am not sure how accurate this information is. Hey at least you have got action going for you!!!!

USCIS usually give you about 1 month notice and your interview notice usually pop on in the portal after about 24hrs and also look out for the notice in the mail. Is it possible you delay your travel back home your field office might be doing a same day day oath ceremony.

In my opinion, don't get bogged down with the timeline, mine says 14 months after receiving a date for interview, my interview is on June 28

Today I woke up to an "Action taken" notice and it turns out my in-person biometrics appointment is schedule for June 18th in Brooklyn, NY!
Some backstory: I called them a few days ago to ask where my case was at since I decided to spend the summer in Italy with my family and I'm leaving soon (I got a person on the phone by repeating "technical support" over and over, a tip I found somewhere on this forum). The lady on the phone couldn't give me any new information, then today I got the notice!
It might be just a coincidence but if you are in the same position I do think giving them a call might be a good idea.
Needless to say I had to postpone my already-booked flight to Italy but I'm so happy things are moving! Oh, and my estimate completion time now says 14 months 😏

Same here. Hopefully you will have an update soon. It sounds like we should all hear something soon.

Same here. My husband is s waiting for an update. He too entered as IR-1, so we have figured the same that they most likely will not re-use the biometrics.
We're not out of Cleveland but Montgomery. Wish you luck and hope you have an update soon.

Hi everyone,
I applied 5 months ago now and still no word on biometric reuse or appointment.
Is anyone else in the same boat? Should I call them?

No updates for me after filing on 10/4, not even a biometrics update. However, my estimated timeline did change last week from July 2021 to March 2021. We will continue to wait..

Ahmed & Amy reacted to Benjamin44 in N-400 October 2020 Filers
Hi all!
I filed my N-400 online on 10/1/2020. My local office is Cleveland, OH. Can't wait for this final step in my journey!
At the time of filing, my case completion said January 2021 (I always knew this wasn't going to happen). Then, after January passed, it changed to July 2021. In the meantime, nothing at all has happened in my case in over 5 months- which seemed a bit long based on Cleveland historical timelines I had seen. Is it nornal for it to be this long without even a biometrics appointment? Anyone here in Cleveland that filed around October 2020? Would love to connect!
I am assuming I don't qualify for biometrics re-use, since I entered on an IR-1 visa- all the processing was done abroad and I didn't have to do ROC, and so haven't had any interactions with USCIS at all stateside. Maybe this is my holdup, since there is a backlog of biometrics appointments?
Good luck to everyone else on their journey, and I'd love to hear from some Cleveland filers!

Ahmed & Amy reacted to Sukie in Anyone else not planning on applying for citizenship?
Most of us here on Visa Journey are younger, just starting relationships, etc. However, there is one critical reason for both partners to be US citizens in your later years, and that has to do with estate tax when one partner dies. If you are both US citizens, and you own a house, there is a hefty exemption for the surviving citizen. If the surviving partner is a non-US citizen, there is no such exemption.
Do your homework. I fully understand not wanting to lose dual citizenship, especially with travel. But as you age, check with your tax advisor about what would happen to the non-US citizen in the event of the US citizen's death.

Ahmed & Amy reacted to SusieQQQ in Bringing a brother of a us citizen to America
It’s called a long term view (admittedly the younger you are the more sense it makes). Put it this way, in ten - to be fair more likely 15 - years’ time, do you think your brother might say “gee, I wish my brother had filed for me in 2020 then I could be moving my family to the US now”? If there is even a small chance of that, file the petition. Worst case in 15 years he decides he’s happy where he is and you lose a few hundred dollars. Best case you are reunited with your sibling, cousins get to play with each other etc. Don’t be shortsighted with the one and only developed country that gives you this amazing opportunity.

Ahmed & Amy reacted to JFH in Bringing a brother of a us citizen to America
How long would it take for your brother to bring a sibling into his country? Would it even be allowed? Think on that before you claim the immigration policies here to be “stupid”.
Fact is that the USA is one of the only countries that allows people to bring siblings (plus the sibling’s spouse and minor children) to live. Almost all other countries do not permit that. My brother in the UK married a Mexican lady and brought her to the UK. She’s now a British citizen and cannot even bring her mother into the UK, let alone her siblings, their spouses and their minor children.

Ahmed & Amy got a reaction from wally29 in Which mailing address while apply for I130 living abroad?
@jeff27 Yes using your parents address is fine. I had to use my parents address as well, since I live with my husband abroad. Just like KULtoATL said, just be sure they scan and send you everything.
Good Luck

We also filed from abroad and filled out the G325a form... I only received one email notification from USCIS and that was only when they received out petition and sent it to Nebraska Service Center. After that I received absolutely nothing... even when we 'ordered' an RFE, I never received a notification. They never updated their system and blamed the problem on not having a US address. So in the end I had to use my parents address. NVC is so much easier, but you have to get through USCIS first.

Ahmed & Amy got a reaction from eslam-mahmoud in Step by Step Guide on Registering with Aramex - Egypt PART 1
Step 1: Register your account on https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/SiteRegister?country=&language=
*** Best browser to register on is through Chrome. If you have slow internet or share your internet, know that it may take a long time to load the pages and information. You may need to refresh the page multiple time. Have patience.
Also, sometimes when registering or logging in you may experience an error notification; relax, it is nothing. You just need to refresh the page ((( multiple times))) or wait foe sometime and try again later.
Step 2.0: Registering your address with Aramex.
Note all the boxes below will never change, even after you have registered your address and once you've been scheduled an interview. So don't freak out, this is normal.
You can update your information at anytime by clicking on the tab 'Update Profile'.
Step 2.1: Continuation of registering address with Aramex
IV Address Registration is for all Family Immigrant Visa Types;
Immigrant Visa is exactly the same as IV Address Registration but is used for those who are getting their visa via Lottery;
Non Immigrant Visa is for those who are not immigrating; i.e. work visa, student visa, tourist/visiting visa, and K-1 (Fiance' visa).
Step 2.2: Continuation of registering address with Aramex - Select Visa Class
It is a long list as it lists all visa types, so be careful and choose carefully the correct visa.
Step 2.3: Continuation of registering address with Aramex - Passport/Personal Information
I will continue the next steps 2.4, 2.5, and an example of what the Aramex Confirmation print out page will look like in PART 2

Ahmed & Amy got a reaction from Elshayt in How to get Court Records & Police Certificate from Egypt to NVC
Hi @eslam-mahmoud
Yes, you will get the 'Police Certificate' at police station which is "فيش و تشبيه" , you will tell them that it is for the US Embassy in Cairo. The 'Court Records' are needed only if you were ever jailed or imprisoned. If you were never jailed or imprisoned then you will not need this and on the Checklist received from NVC you would mark this as N/A.
Best of luck to you
