Actually @theresaL, this is a very complicated question. I read that PDF and it's pretty confusing to me. The actual parts of the Social Security handbook that cover this are numbers 1845 and 1846. They too were confusing but I finally understood them.
 
If you are married to a US spouse living in the US for 5 years, it is a true exception, even if you move out of the country for more than 6 months, and benefits can continue. However, that does not apply to citizens of countries specified in #1846. Rule after rule.

I know then you get accused of being "rude". When you are just trying to give people a dose of reality.

Glad you didn't have to go out in it. I don't know how anyone could with the type of rain and wind we had. I heard the first thunder at 12:00, phone and alerts went off at 1:00 went to the shelter and all clear was sounded at 1:20. That was a very fast moving storm. No damage, only the garden fence blown over, but it wasn't braced very well.
 
I haven't seen the photos of Dallas yet. I need to check with my cousin and see about her lake house. It's just outside Rogers, AR.

Oh no hope it doesn't come here, but if it moves north out of OK probably will. We moved all of the potted plants into the garage last weekend for the winter because frost was forecast and it did. Killed all of the tomato plants. That's what we burned today. Still need to move the gold fish inside and mulch the strawberry plants.
 
When my parents built their new house, I convinced them to put in a shelter in the garage so they wouldn't have to go outside. My dad wanted to build an underground one that you had to use a ladder to get into and out of. He was in very bad shape at the time from Parkinson's and thank goodness he listened to me at put it in the garage.

We had a cool wet day here in NC so I decided that it would be a good day to go through some boxes in the garage and flat out organize it. Since we haven't had the chance to do it since we moved in and it has been so hot. 
 
So I was going through a box and I put my hand in it to do something when I felt a sharp cut on the end of my index finger. It turns out that my wife had a 12 inch long bread knife in there and I just so happened to find it. 

Good thinking. I'd rather have had that kind as well. We don't have a garage to put a safe room in, and there isn't any room in the house at all. So we  have the ladder one.

Just finished visit with kiddo and my mom.  Surprised kiddo.  She was VERY surprised.  Yay.  Going home with over stuffed carry on from my shopping trip at my favorite store.  Expensive trip.  Worth every penny.
