try to find out pro bono lawyer near where you live. the faster the better for you to get a divorce lawyer. why wait if ur wife is like that?
p.s i dont understand why ur wife said you have to work to take care of her but yet she doesnt want you to get the GC and SS? its like contradictive

I would report the SS card as stolen by her.  She cannot cancel your green card.  Find a divorce attorney to protect yourself legally.  Seek spousal support from her under the I-864 she signed.  Move on and seek happiness for yourself.

I have prior arrest related to post 9/11 JTTF sweep leading into lengthy and complex removal proceedings. IO's line of questions attempted to reach as far back as 2001-02. My A-file was hauled in on a trolly, you can now imagine how complex it has been. Apart from that, some civic questions were of a different nature such as "What is vote" and "Why one vote" etc.
Recognizing the complexity of my case, I believe the officer was an incredibly professional and nice. They did not make me feel uncomfortable while also performed a quality review.

For the Philippines with all the paperwork and the weird requirement, I never suggest anyone gets married in the Philippines, it just a hassle, plus then you will never be able to marry again in the PHilippines if the relationship doesn't work.

I would look into the Utah Online Marriage, but advising and US Citizen to get married in the Philippines is foolish in my opinion

She is disability person since Ukraine, but have no disability status in US. To get all medical papers for disability in US its thousands of dollars from my pocket that I don't have. She needs medical insurance here, since she is not getting any younger. And the only way to get insurance it's become US citizen.

Can I make a suggestion, many towns (via adult education at high schools, community colleges etc) have free classes to help people prepare for the test, for both English and the civics test. That might be something to consider? You didn’t mention if her English was an issue but maybe some of these classes will help her feel both more prepared and more confident for next time. Good luck.

U will get the letter within 5 bus days and I 100% do not recommend rescheduling cause it can prolong it or if they don’t do it right they can deny you and you would have to start over .

I would just get a flight to go to interview and ask if they have same day oath ceremony as well.

Thank you so much, Mash! Fingers crossed I will get my paper by the end of the week. I seriously did not expect USCIS to be so agile while processing my case...

Is she locked up in China, If she has a passport I am sure there are countries she can travel to without a visa. A quick google search should tell you what countries she can enter with a visa on arrival, and how long she can stay. find a country that lets her extend her stay while there and you can usually milk it for 6 months in that country, and that should be long enough for everything to get to the embassy in China, then she can fly back, medical , interview, get visa in passport, and bail out. I've spent years hoping from country to country back in the days, doing border runs to reset the clock on my visitors visa, so I know it can be done. Just have to have the funds to do it.

First of all, I get it. Many of us do, as a matter of fact; this process, this giving up a thirtieth portion of one's life just for some paper is definitely inhumane.

    It's challenging.

There's little I or anyone else can say right now to cheer you up. Frankly, it's immeasurable, the amount of positive emotion necessary to keep all the waiting souls afloat.

    That said.

    Shortcuts are deadly.

Shortcuts can be illegal, forever barring one from the hope of their life.
Shortcuts can be painful, morphing into lawyers, additional hearings, more flights, extra overseas trips.
Shortcuts tend to come back hundredfold, and not in a good way.

    I get it.

    You're upset.

Full disclosure... I am too. I've said too many things in the past forty-eight hours for the same reason you might be feeling. I'm going to pay for it soon, too, I'm sure.

Many, all too many of us have been in this boat.

We can only hope it's going to dock at the right shore someday.

    Columbus hasn't turned back home.

    Absolutely.
And also, trying to get married and adjust status on a tourist visa is immigration fraud. And anyone telling you to do so here would be violating the Terms of Service.

MASH reacted to beloved_dingo in Is Marriage Certificate really needed for AOS I-485?
Personally, I wouldn't file yet. For all you know, the marriage certificate could be ready in a week and you could file with no worries at all.

If you don't receive it prior to I-94 expiration, you need to decide which risk you'd rather face:

    1. The risk that instead of getting an RFE for the marriage certificate, your petition is outright rejected and you'll have to refile + pay the AOS fees again. (More likely than #2)
    2. The risk that your spouse will be out of status after September 7th and could face difficulties with immigration. (Less likely than #1, but would be a major headache)

Keep in mind that if #1 happens, then you will likely end up in the same boat as #2 anyway because your spouse's I-94 would be expired by the time the petition was rejected/returned.

Also I would get the AOS packet ready ASAP so it can go in the mail the second you get that marriage certificate in hand.

The marriage is the sole basis for the adjustment of status.  It MUST be submitted, else problems will arise.

I looked at your past posts, and found some helpful information to help us understand what could be going on:

You also submitted an inquiry and were told that your case is under extended review:

It sounds like there is something in your background that needs further review. We don't know what that is; you may have an idea but you don't have to share that. Filing a writ of mandamus (I think that may be what you are referring to) will force USCIS to make a decision. If they have not completed their review/background checks when they are forced to make a decision, the only decision they can make is to deny you. I would be careful and try to be patient.

Do you have any idea why? Still married? Difficult interview? Fraud suspicion? Background checks? Etc

WOM (writ of mamandus) is something to discuss with an attorney familiar with your case. It doesn't automatically force an approval just a decision.

Hello!  My fiancé and I are waiting for our K1 NOA2.  Unfortunately, it's been 16 months now and we haven't gotten out approval yet.  We are April 2021 filers.  It seems like USCIS has forgotten our case and few of the remaining untouched April 2021 cases, as USCIS has not been processing new April 2021 cases.  They significantly slowed down and moved on to May and June 2021.
I would like to ask for your advice, if it is wise for us to shift to spousal visa instead.  Yes, we understand that we will be waiting for the K1 visa, but to wait for 16 months without being certain when USCIS will look back at our cases made us think maybe we should get married instead.
How is the CR1 processing going currently?  Is it still significantly longer than the K1?
    I appreciate your input.

PS - How is CVC looking?  Are they much much slower than the other visa centers?  I'm afraid that if we apply for the cr1, we will have the same experience as our K1.  And I know it's a gamble.

PPS - Is there anybody applying with their spouse in Egypt?  How is the wait for an interview there?
    Thank you!!!

Love your enthusiasm but just a comment on the title “ soon to become a US citizen”… it won’t be “soon”.. 🥺…. you  have 18 months or so processing for your CR1, then 3 years of holding status as a permanent resident , 12+ months of processing for your citizenship application before you get scheduled for your naturalization ceremony.

So a long road ahead .. read up on the processes and procedures, use the the resources  here and on the USCIS websites, pay out $$$$ and practice more patience than you ever thought you had!!!

    Hi All!

Longtime follower, first time poster. I filed in February 2022 and had my interview today in Portland, OR. My attorney was with me during the interview and the officer was very courteous and professional. Passed the civics, reading, and writing tests with flying colors and no out-of-the-box questions during review of the N-400 application questions. At the end, the officer advised he could not provided a decision at this time, but will recommend approval. When my attorney questioned the non-decision, the officer advised that my I-751 file was not with my N-400 file and had to request the completed file from Nebraska (LIN SC). The officer went on the explain that since my I-751 was recently approved (June 2022), there was no issues with approval, but had to wait for the completed I-751 case file to be sent from Nebraska to Portland for final approval.

Other than the odd hiccup, the experience went well overall! Now it's just a waiting game for the official approval and oath ceremony letter.

I have been seeing a lot of people getting their interviews scheduled in the past 2 months and I was getting worried for mine. I applied on December 18th.

I have the app on my phone and have been checking it consistently daily.

I just checked tonight after not checking earlier and my heart jumped. I JUST GOT MY INTERVIEW SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 27th!!!

To all who are still waiting, I genuinely wish you all will get your schedules very soon! Best of luck to us all! 🥹

Since you already waited so long, it is best to hear back on the K1 Visa, if you do the spousal visa you are gonna have to start over again and lose the money you already spent on the fiancé visa.
