Hi there, we have the exact same case. From your post, it seems like you are at the NVC stage at the moment. How long has the petitioner been living in Canada in your case? I can shed some light on our we got our case approved at NVC level. I am the u.s. citizen petitioner. My husband is Canadian. My son was born in Canada but this year we got my son his U S. Passport as well. I moved to Toronto with my husband after wedding 10 years ago. And then I convinced my husband to move back home closer to my family. To re establish domicile, you have to prove that you have taken concrete steps to make u.s. your permanent home again. I didn't have house or anything I own in the u.s. at the moment. But we did the following:
    1) I resigned from my current employer in Canada.
    2) liquidated Canadian TFSA account and transferred amount to u.s. account.
The above notes helped us prove to NVC that we have broken ties with Canada.
Below are the things we did to reestablish domicile:
    1) hire a real estate agent, we got a letter of engagement showing that we are in the process of looking to buy home in the u.s.
    2) start looking for work in the u.s. and attach emails or proof of correspondence with the employers in the U.S.
    3) correspondence showing school registration for the child of you have any.
    4) you can attach your voting record.
We got dragged at the NVC stage for a while until our lawyer realized what was missing. We had to get a joint petitioner who is currently domiciled in the u.s. submitted all the join sponsor documents such as W2, tax transcripts, I 864 etc along with my documents proving re establishing domicile and that's when we got approved.
    Hope this helps.

The point is that domicile is verified and discretionary to the consulate, not NVC.  Expect scrutiny from Montreal on the issue.

    1. Your guess is as good as anyone's...
    2. Taxes are more complicated than immigration, I strongly suggest you reach out to a fiscalist.
    3.  As long as she's an Ontario resident, most probably.  Contact OHIP if you're in doubt.
    4. As far as I know, NVC doesn't verify domicile, at all.

    Best of luck.

Hello, we filed I-130 in January 15 and they touched our application only ONCE so far (February 11). We have been waiting for 11 months... So frustrating! The Case History of USCIS site shows "Invalid Date Case Was Received and A Receipt Notice Was Emailed". Does anyone have the same issue?

Anyone else having trouble logging into to their myUSCIS account right now? I am not getting the verification code emails at the moment and have tried multiple browsers and requesting a new verification code, etc. I tested my email and it's working normally, seems to be an issue with the site itself.

I agree, one time I spoke to a representative about how do some cases get transferrd and others don't, she said they move cases to even the load....but how is it even when other centers are almost to march 2020 and Potomac jumped back from oct to sept 2019

I'm a noobie at this but the variance between the service centers is really baffling to me.

How can it be that one service center (Texas) has 4.5-7 months and another (Vermont) has 20-26 months?

To add to the confusion, some people seem to get through the USCIS in like two-three months (without being expedited) while it takes more than a year for other people to hear anything - at the same service center.

You really don't know what to expect I guess.

You guys think we can start a petition or something to have cases transferred from Potomac to other processing centers? It seems little unfair that people who ended up in Potomac have to wait for 10+ months, while others who ended up in Texas or Nebraska are getting approved within 4-5 months!

Nothing to worry. A touch isn’t a sign of progress or approval. A lot of people get approved without any touch. Good luck with your approval
