CdnRN got a reaction from gajdim in N-400 AUGUST 2020 FILERS
Glad to see this thread is created! I have been eligible to apply for a while but have been hesitant.

Time to shove that aside and get going. I’m giving it a few days more to make sure I am correct in my border crossings.

Ugh Seattle’s estimates time range is 16-24 months. I can’t decide if that makes me feel better than last week’s response which was 12-36 months.

Fingers crossed. I had to use Chrome because I’m on a Mac when I submitted yesterday. Everything was there when I pressed submit - but I’m admittedly nervous about it — I even logged off and re-logged in and it was there. 🤞🏻If it looks gone when I login next week I’ll call USCIS to make sure it’s all there.

I saw that today too! I'm glad I didn't keep procrastinating. Not that it was procrastinating per-se but rather a well thought out process to go from GC to dual. lol.

I just filled out the travel section and exit and entry on the same day didn’t get listed. Leave one day back the next still counted as 0 days outside the USA

Alright. After hesitating to submit my N400 (the number of times I've filled out drafts of this form...) since 2017 (!!), and hemming and hawing about what to include. I did it. Just under the wire for July. Just pressed submit!

    Hi,

We filed recently, but we filed under the 3-year rule, which means unlike us, you don't need to provide evidence that substantiates your marriage. So we provided additional evidence speaking to the marriage, something that you don't have to do. Further, our I-751 is not yet approved, so we provided evidence speaking to that point. I would imagine the required evidence that you have to present under the 5-year rule is pretty basic, vanilla. How much more beyond that to submit is a great question that 5-year ruler submitters here might jump in and speak to. Have you decided whether to file online or mail to the lockbox? Wishing you all the best with your preparations.

I included professional organizations in which I was a paying member. I even included alumni and socio-civic associations. Whether I needed to include them or not was not a big deal to me. Good luck on your application!

CdnRN got a reaction from LoveAlways2 in How did you 'Organize' your package?
Mine looked like the one posted. I had the top covered to hide private info, obviously, but I had a cover page on top followed by a detailed table of contents for what each exhibit contains.
Sorry, apparently I can't figure out how to attach a photo on my phone. ?

CdnRN got a reaction from bahamamama234 in simple question How long does it takes to receive EAD AND AP AFTER BIOMETRICS TAKEN?
You just wait. They don't send anything. You may get a "we have mailed your EAD" text or email if you signed up for that, once it's on the way, but otherwise, nothing. What does your estimated date give you on your timeline here? I found it to be reasonably accurate.

CdnRN got a reaction from afewquestions in Interview appointment letter did not arrive
Am I correct that you have been following your case online?
If there is an interview date set your online status will state the date and that they have sent a letter. Have you got the set date for the interview? The letter says the date too but you would already know that from checking online. The letter tells you the location, time and what to bring.
If you haven't received notice that your appointment has been scheduled they won't have sent you anything new...
If not keep waiting, the scheduling all depends on the local field office and how backed up they are, there is nothing to say they should send you an interview date by a certain date/time... Some people get scheduled quickly and others (like me) sat in the waiting for an interview to be scheduled for roughly 110 days...

You file them concurrently, so the I-130 with the supporting documents only needs to be filed once. http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2explains what to do.

Again, read the guide I linked above. It will answer your questions. Your wife enters a period of authorized stay while you go through AOS. If she leaves, her application is abandoned and you will be out a lot of money. Until she gets AP, that is.
Seriously, read the guides and instructions before sending anything.

CdnRN got a reaction from Canuckgirly in Separate Cover Letters
I did one short cover letter outlining the 4 forms I was sending (I-139, I-485, I-765, I-131) and then did detailed cover letters for each section separately. Otherwise my item by item cover letter was 2 pages long. Plus the package is split up so I wanted each separate section to have a cover letter.
I used one envelope and clips to separate the sections.
That said, I asked that question here and I was told one cover letter is fine.

Use your married name on your green card, if that is the name you are going to use. Anytime you need to use your passport for anything, keep your marriage certificate at hand and use that as a verification of your name change.
You likely will need to continue to book airline flights (especially international) in your passport name, but once you can update your passport you can change it (I assume) there too.
