  1. $700 a month? Holy ****. My wife is nuts about running the a/c and wants to constantly feel like it's Siberia in our large house here in FL, and even in the hottest months of summer we are barely at half that. And we are running a pool filter and well. My greatest complaint with the Tesla, besides the price and charging hassle, is the lack of comfort. The worst is the model 3. Went with friends over to Miami beach and back in their model 3. A trip of about 250 miles with one stop at a super charger. That car had a rough and stiff horrible ride and the rear seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever been in. Car was noisy on the highway as well.
  2. When my kids were giving me a hard time I just beat them. Sometimes I used my belt.... LOL
  3. Still Still willing to send you the rubber snake I have that looks just like that. Could be a lot of fun at home when your wife sees it! LOL
  4. Hope you're not talking about a Tesla. My wife has a Mercedes. That's a luxury car. I've driven in several Teslas and they are not luxury cars. Just expensive.
  5. You could move on down to Florida. We don't have mountains here. Already have plenty of agriculture and shopping malls too!
  6. I didn't ask. I just did it. No one tried to stop me. Walked to secondary, which at ATL was a large room with a lot of people waiting. Handed over passports (I'm sure they didn't look at mine to see it was a US passport) and documents and waited....a long time. Very interesting to be a US citizen watching all that went on. I wrote about it here on VJ so long ago. The officers were very rude and uncaring at the time. I had my eye on our folder on the counter, and after about 3 hours I saw that an officer picked it up. He looked at it, shook his head and said "oh #######, its a K-1". He looked to another officer and asked how many days do they get? Then he put everything down and went to chat with some of the female officers working there asking where everyone was going for dinner that night, and what was everyone doing that weekend and... I had to bite my tongue. Finally we got called up. Guy was a little surprised to see me, but quickly checked my passport to see that I was admitted OK and said I was fine. Gave us the quick speech about getting married in 90 days, and then we were off. I'm sure it varies by airport.
  7. I did it with my then fiancee entering through Atlanta. Found out it was actually ok to go together through the US citizen and PR line (they are really the same as the visitor line but usually shorter and quicker), but it's probably more correct to go in the visitor/immigrant line. Got directed to secondary so I went with her and waited...about three hours at that time. When she was called up to speak with the immigration officer I went up too. He did some paperwork, checked my passport also, then gave us the usual speech about getting married in 90 days and off we went.
  8. Got to wait until after the election in November when the GOP has a majority. Then it has a great chance of going forward.
  9. Yeah, but would I want to live in AL, AR, or GA?? LOl, NO. Wife's daughter and family moved to Broward county last year (Parkland) and it looks like their property taxes are about double. Wouldn't want to live on that coast anyway.
  10. I'll have to say the property taxes here in FL are not bad, especially compared to some of those northern states that also have income taxes.
  11. Are you in training for the July 4th Coney Island hot dog eating contest? That would be way cool to see you try that.
  12. Good news for me is that I don't need, nor do I want to buy, a new car right now. I just see a lot of people jumping from their almost new $35K car into a $65k+ Tesla so they can save a thousand or two per year on gas. Of course there is the Chevy Bolt that can now be had for under 30k, but...
  13. Yep. I was just playfully pondering an EV and running the numbers. Daughter is picking up her new Tesla Y today. Girl that works for me has two Teslas in her family. Stepdaughter has one on order. Other friends have them on order. Won't be giving up my newish SUV, but the wife has a smaller luxury car we use daily for 10,000 mi/year. It gets about 28 mpg for our daily use. Running the numbers @ $5 and $6 per gallon of gas for a $50k-$65k Tesla just doesn't make sense. If I were to buy a new car, it would be a loaded top of the line Camry hybrid that gets better than 45 mpg, and still have a bundle of money left over to buy gas. Just my opinion. But it seems Camry Hybrids are not currently available in my area. No problem. I can wait.
  14. Oh hooray. Yesterday was the first day of hurricane season, and tomorrow we are expecting our first tropical storm hit. Looks like it will mostly be a rain event with 7 or 8 inches Friday and Saturday. Thankfully two weeks ago we checked and ran the generators and chainsaws. Last weekend we were at the house in the Keys and prior to leaving secured everything as we always do this time of year. Bring it on
  15. There is a dark chunky girl with a gap between her front teeth in Georgia that he has the hots for too.
  16. Was talking about this with my son ( a PA in emergency at a local hospital) and his wife (an ER nurse) just the other day. All of us were vaccinated because of our jobs. None of us opted for the booster. We have all seen some distressing cases of severe and long lasting issues following vaccination and especially boosting. I have not had any adverse effects, but honestly with some of the folks I have seen with life changing reactions it is doubtful I would have taken the vaccine if I had known, My typically Russian wife that does not trust anything to do with the government was the only one in our family that didn't take the vaccine.
  17. Don't be too confused. Remember that NB is from Georgia, and, well, that accent seems to be coming through.
