Well, in that last paragraph, you completely missed my point. You're 60, so technically you could have had a daughter who would be 40 years old.
Maybe I just follow a different set of morals and standards, but I also try to look at the big picture. My wife is 4.5 years younger, which is nothing. When I retire, she'll be pretty close to retiring too. When I'm old and in a nursing home, I'm not gonna be leaving my 20-something year old wife to take care of the kids by herself. If you think that's OK, then that's your own selfish desire. Just because it's legal, doesn't make it right.

You kind of just branded the Philippines as an easy place to go where old people can get young girls. It's not a place to fulfill a fetish that's very hard to accomplish in America. It's very rare to see a couple of white Americans with a 35 year age gap, mainly because it's not the norm in America (how much disgust did America show to Anna Nicole Smith and that 80 year old guy?). So why is it that most of the white people I see in Phil (outside of Manila) are old white males picking up their young Filipina tart?
Age shouldn't make a difference in a relationship, but some people need to ask themselves a question or two:
Would you marry your daughter's best friend?
Would you marry your granddaughter's best friend?
Let the fire begin, but I'll still stick to my "keep it within 10 years" rule.

I'm gonna guess that you were denied for something else. They would have sent an RFE if it was only for that. Either way, I think it was a bad suggestion by USCIS to wait for an RFE. You can send in additional documents at any point and have it added to your case.

spn1025 got a reaction from Brother Hesekiel in immigrant spouse being asked by US husband's accountant to file taxes US??
There's 2 ways that the American husband can file his taxes. The question is: did you make a lot of money in Australia? Your husband can figure his taxes both ways to see which will give the biggest refund. If you didn't earn much money, go with option 2. I went with option 2 because my foreign wife didn't work, so she had no income.
    1. File "Married Filing Separately". Since you do not have a social security number, your husband will write "NRA" (non-resident alien) in the box on form 1040 asking your social security number. This will give him the same amount of return as if he were filing as Single. Page 13 of form 1040's instructions lists this method.
    2. File "Married Filing Jointly". If you didn't earn much money, this will give a much larger return. He will have to file a form W7 with his return, and mail the W7 and his completed return to the address on the instructions for form W7. It will take about 2 months longer to get his return, but it's worth it. The form W7 is an application for an ITIN, basically a temporary social security number used for tax reporting purposes only. Any foreign children being claimed on his return will also need an ITIN. There are additional documents that he will have to send in also, such as a copy of your birth certificate, copy of your passport, etc. See the instructions for W7.

spn1025 got a reaction from TnJ in To flee poverty, Filipinas marry foreigners
A few things that I saw on my 2 trips to the Philippines kind of made me sick.
My first trip, we went to Puerto Galera. Only saw 1 foreigner there (a white male). This guy was probably in his 50's, and he was with this Filipina who looked like she was about 18. I got pretty disgusted.
My second trip, we went to Boracay. I saw a bunch of foreigners, but 3 in particular caught my attention. These 3 (all white males) were between the ages of 60 to 75, each with a Filipina between probably 18 to 25.
When I see stuff like this, I get very disgusted. Although there is a 1% chance that they're together for love, it's pretty much a guarantee that they're just using each other.
I can't stand seeing stuff like this when there's an age gap of 30 years or more.

    1. tell them talk to a lawyer.
    2. tell them to stop doing things illegally.
He's in the military. He's putting his security clearance at risk.
Using someone else's SSN is, I'd imagine, a felony, depending on what it was used for.
Military spouses get expedited though the visa process. She should go home, do things legally, and she'll be here legally in a few months.
Obama passed Deferred Action last year, allowing illegals to file paperwork to allow them to legally stay here and work. Apparently this illegal didn't take advantage of it.

spn1025 got a reaction from mrsSpitze in Cheapest flights to Manila
My first trip to the Philippines earlier this year, I used Priceline. Had no problems, and got a roundtrip from Boston to Manila for $1200. Not bad ~
I have another trip to Philippines scheduled for next month. I originally booked the trip with Priceline (4 months in advance of the trip). The next day I noticed that I entered the date wrong, and purchased tickets for 2013 instead of 2012. I called them up, and they refused to fix it for me. After about an hour of trying to get it corrected, the end result was cancelling the ticket and getting charged a $200 cancellation fee. With that said, I won't be using them again.
I then tried purchasing tickets from Cheapoair. Found a price for $1100 round trip. Booked it, then received an email saying the flight wasn't available and the next best price they could give me was $600 more. I told them forget it, no thanks. A week later I noticed the same flight is still listed on their website for $1100. That's false advertisement, in my opinion. So I won't be using them, either.
I ended up booking straight on Delta's website for $1300.
My advice, search websites like Kayak, Priceline, Cheapoair, Expedia, etc., for the best fares, then try to find that same flight directly on the airline's website.

Make sure you indicate with the shipper that there is no Saturday delivery for NVC. If you're shipping something on Friday for next-day shipping, make sure it's scheduled for Monday, not Saturday.

What insurance company will allow you to add a mother-in-law to your plan? I've only ever heard of being able to cover your spouse and children with a family plan. She would need her own insurance plan, which obviously won't be through your work's insurance company.

spn1025 got a reaction from Saylin in Filing Status - Single
You need a SSN or ITIN for anyone that you claim as a dependent. If you aren't claiming children and your spouse makes no money (not claiming a tax return), you can use NRA if filing Married Separately. Claiming Married Jointly, you need an ITIN or SSN for the spouse. If you're claiming children, you need an ITIN or SSN for them.
The first year that you file taxes with a new ITIN, you cannot e-file, you have to do it by paper. On the 2nd year, you can e-file.
As for everyone else who say to claim Single, I wouldn't do that. Nowhere on the IRS website or any forms/instructions does it say to list single if you are in fact married. Whether or not you'll get in trouble for it is a different story. If you're married, you're supposed to file as married.

    and I miss leche flan.
anyway, my opinion to this whole thread, if you're 30+ then keep the gap to 10 years. That's not a rule of thumb for everyone, but if you come on here and have to ask if you'll be accepted in society with someone half your age (or a third for some people), then maybe you're not ready for that kind of relationship. If it bothers you what other people will think about you and say about you because you're engaged/married to someone considerably younger than you, then maybe it was more of just a fantasy for you that you had to complete.
To make a relationship like that last, you need confidence in yourself and your wife, you need to accept the fact that no matter what, people are gonna look, and you need to accept the fact that it's not the "norm" in America. Doesn't mean it's wrong, though. Everyone has their own lives, everyone has their own preferences. Some people are gay. Some people prefer interracial. Some people prefer younger girls. Some people like midgets. If you want your relationship to be true and to last, then the only opinion that should matter to you is your spouse's.

spn1025 got a reaction from Judy Ann in I need help on what Visa o pursue!
If you get married first, then you have to do the IR1/CR1 with form I-130 (spousal visa).
If you plan on getting married in America, he can file for K1 with form I-129F (fiancé visa), which will give you a 90 day visa to America, during which time you'll have to get married and file adjustment of status.
It all depends on your plans for marriage.
I personally liked the I-130 idea better because after my wife gets her visa and comes here, she's already a permanent resident. she can start work right away (as soon as she has her social security number). With I-129F, you need to file for work authorization if you plan on working before your adjustment of status is cleared.
