GandK got a reaction from nigerwife in Filling AOS via K1 is now a Misery
No offense but for some countries, Nigeria is one of them, I doubt you will easily get a visitor visa exactly for the reason you said. People get visitor visa with the intention to migrate to the US and then abuse the visa and try to adjust the status.
Don't know about you but I don't like to bet my entire future on the fact that my AOS application is "most likely to pass through the normal process".
You know what VISITOR visa or STUDENT visa is for?
Each visa is specific to the purpose of the visit and your situation.
It's because of people speculating and trying to circumvent the system that makes this process long and difficult for legitimate people who do things the legal and right way.

GandK got a reaction from Nathalie2007 in If you are still waiting for the NVC to receive your case from CSC
Congrats!!!
Seems like the wheel is turning again. They must have replaced their dead hamsters.

Sounds like instead of a husband, you got yourself a teenage boy. Your husband needs to grow some backbone.

GandK got a reaction from jaycali in Getting NVC case number
Yup, CSC operator explained to me it is a time consuming task to process and forward the cases to NVC because it involves personal and classified information. So they have to be really careful.
Maybe they don't use USPS but they have their own knight templars wagon escort the case from CA all the way to Boston on foot, that would make sense.

GandK got a reaction from Ivie & Eguagie in NOA dated february 2012
I-129F is a petition for fiancee visa. If they have a reason to believe that you are not legally single and are already married, they could deny your petition.
Approval time varies between 4-6 months.
It's pretty funny 95% of all people who get into trouble with this process are those who use attorney/lawyers.

GandK got a reaction from Harpa Timsah in Tourist Visa for losing weight
Why go to USA or any other developed country if you want to lose weight?
Seriously, go do volunteer work in Africa for 6 months, east africa perhaps.
I lost 8-9 kg when I was volunteering in Uganda for 6 months without even trying the slightest and I'm well-trained guy, some of it was muscular mass. If you are overweight you'd probably lose a lot more and doing good at the same time.
In Africa, you will learn the value of food and learn to appreciate it. You eat to live and not live to eat.
Here I eat several times a day at irregular times, lots of junks, pizza, soda, processed meats, snacks, chemicals, you name it.
In Uganda, we were fed 3 times a day, we ate exactly the same time with other people, good healthy, unprocessed food, rice, potatoes, fish, beans, no chemical craps. Zero snacks, only fruits, no ice-cream because nobody in the village had a fridge lol.
I never felt more alive and healthy than when I lived in Africa (except during malaria...but that's another story lol...)

GandK got a reaction from Penguin_ie in is there a way to expedite K1 visa?
You seem to have misunderstood the point of an expedite request.
The criteria are set for a good reason, there is no any other way outside the criteria. The expedite option is there for people who really need it under extreme emergency situation and can prove it.
If there was a convenient way to expedite, everybody would request an expedite.
And if everybody virtually get expedited, there would be no differences.

GandK got a reaction from pilarpinto in USCIS updated the processing volumes and trend
Just FYI, USCIS has published the processing volumes and trend for Jan and Feb 2012
http://dashboard.uscis.gov/
They were so behind in the statistics, I thought they had given it up lol.

GandK got a reaction from kittylondon in no NOA2?
From time to time I read posts about expedite request, visa denial or waiting frustration that I think their reasons are weak or silly. But I say nothing, I keep my mouth shut when I don't have anything useful to contribute because I remember why we all are here in this VJ community.
We are not here to turn our frustration venting against each other. We are on the same team here to support each other during this "visa journey".

GandK got a reaction from N-o-l-a in Harsh Question
Why don't we bump up the minimum income requirement to 1000% and while we are at it, the beneficiary needs to be able to demonstrate a college degree and speak at least 5 languages as well.

GandK got a reaction from cdneh in no NOA2?
Just because you don't see update on VJ immigration timeline, it doesn't mean that they have slowed down.
What I do to keep my spirit up and to kill time is to check the USCIS status website, and check the status of random case number in there and keep track of where they are in the processing date.
I wrote down several sets of these random cases for different dates like 15th nov, 21st nov, 25th nov, 30th nov, 7th dec ... etc
For example, I have written down about 5-10 random case number for I-129F at CSC for 21st november I noticed today that the majority of these cases got approval yesterday. So I know for sure that CSC is working on 21th + november petitions.
I find this much more reliable than VJ timeline but also a lot more time consuming though. In VJ timeline, the dataset is small and sometimes people are not actively update their timeline.
Another thing that helps me not too worry too much is looking at the statistics on USCIS, for I-129F they complete 1500-2000 cases every month, so you can take it and know that they are working on it and stop worrying about "daily" update.

GandK got a reaction from jaycali in CSC Is On Fast Track!
I don't think the guessimate based on inconsistent user inputs with insufficient sample size has anything to do with how fast or slow CSC works...

GandK got a reaction from N M in Who did you fly with to start your new life
What I have learned from reading this thread.
- Almost every major airline has been mentioned as "best"
- The same airlines have been mentioned as "worst" by different other people.
- Personal experiences vary greatly.
Conclusion
- Fly with whatever airline cheapest.

GandK got a reaction from Saylin in Where do I go to obtain the K-1 Visa?
Hi
Please read this guide. There is a link to download the application forms. You can also download the application form directly on the USCIS website.
http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide
The first forms you need are I-129F, G-325a and optional G-1145
Bear in mind that you need to send a lot more documents than just those forms. So make sure to read the guide thorough.
