Who did you fly with to start your new life

My interview is getting close now but im not sure what airline to fly with.

Ive always flown with Continental but since they merged with United i have to say imo you are paying more for less service! But i have 15k miles clocked up with them!

Ive got the option to fly with American Airlines or British Airways aswell but dont know who is the best.

Who have you all flown with back over to the states? & who do you think was the best/worst?

United has never lost my bags and iv always had amazing service from them.

American Airlines have lost my bags and i have had very rude service from them. Even my husband active duty has had very rude service from AA.

United is definitely the worst in my experiences (7 total trips to asia&back) (1 time overbooked, bumped and stranded in tokyo)

I would say All Nippon or Cathay Pacific are the best

I always use BA. Ive flown with them 3 times return in the last year and its always ben great service. I'll be using them to fly again when i get my visa. I like the online check in and ability to chose my seat 24 hours before i fly.

Do they have any entertainment on the BA flights? Ive only flown with BA once to Russia and we had the option to watch one movie.

On the Continental flights before they merged with United there were TVs on the back of the seats and everything which is fantastic and they also allow you to reserve your seat and choose your seat days before you fly but BA seem to be half the price now!

Virgin Atlantic is my airline of choice. CO has lost my bags and my kiddos car seat. AA are good and I haven't flown BA for years. So Virgin all the way for me

Virgin fly to the states also? Lol ive flown with Continental for SO long i had no clue how many other airlines were avalible! Thanks i will have a look at their prices

I've flown with United from Australia to the US three times. They definitely aren't the best (13hr flight from Sydney to LAX and they don't have personal entertainment - they are still using the old planes with the screens every 5 or so rows!!), but I have never had a problem with them in terms of luggage, major delays or getting bumped off flights. But I am in agreeance that Continental has been dragged down to United's level of service since the merger (as opposed to what we would rather see - United improving theirs to be on par with Continental!).

A friend of mine from the UK used Delta I think, but personally I avoid them at all costs lol.

BA I don't know much about - I've never flown with them myself - but my animals did fly with them and they arrived safe and sound lol.

I've never flown international with AA but I have a couple of times domestically - and I would avoid them at all costs too!! I've had nothing but trouble with them - major delays, then having flights cancelled and they were of no help whatsoever to get me re-booked in order to make my international flight.

If Virgin Atlantic is anything like the Virgin Australia - I would go with them!!! Virgin Australia is my choice flying Australia-USA and have always had great service from them.

Wow! Thanks for the detailed reply! Its a shame the merge has pulled them downhill, i had nothing but amazing service the first handfull of times i flew with Continental, and then they merged with United and when i flew home i had a bunch of problems, i ended up in Chicago, the planes were terrible! I had a 7 hour flight with no entertainment, major delays, no food and no leg room!.. It was an aweful experience!

I've personally flown Malaysian Air (??) and United. Malaysian was better because of entertainment but United is upgrading their systems. They're also typically the cheapest and seeing I'll probably be sleeping the majority of the flight, cheaper is better. I've never had bag issues or been bumped or anything. I missed a flight once because of a delay (weather) and they just put me on the next one and my bags followed me without problem.

**Edit - I also like the idea of United's new "Petsafe" program with the temp controlled cargo section for the pets as well as dedicated staff. If we ever move back to Aus we'd have to use this option and it makes me feel less nervous about it.

Don't you use a price comparison website or something to buy your tickets? There are a lot more airlines than these that fly UK-US. I like BA though.

You're welcome. And yes it is a shame because I too had really good experiences with Continental (well domestically anyway).

Hehe....7hr flight with no entertainment and no leg room....lol....yeah try that for 13-14hrs - that's what you get with United lol! I used to not care so much because I was just after the cheapest flight I could get and that was nearly always United. They used to be much cheaper than other airlines (when I say much cheaper I'm talking anywhere between $200-$800 for flights from Aust-USA), but when I recently priced tickets to Australia for May, they were within $20-$40 of the three other major airlines flying that route. In that case, the extra $40 to fly with another airline that has seat-back entertainment and better service is a no-brainer lol!
