Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

3 RepliesWe've been married just two years and I'm filing for divorce. I can't stand my wife. I've fallen out of love and don't like the way she treats me. She's also been neglecting our baby.
She has two kids of her own that I'm a step parent to, but never adopted. She's dead set on fighting the divorce and says she doesn't have to work and expects me to support her and her two kids for the next ten years because of the Affidavit of Support I filed on their behalf.
She does have an education and she is working, so she has the ability to support herself.
Am I expected to support her for ten years when she's capable of working? For her sake and the sake of her kids she should be working. As I am asking for sole custody of our baby, she would be required to pay child support.

11 RepliesHi everyone!
I just had 2 quick questions.
I filed for AOS after getting married on the K1 visa. I got my work permit shortly after but absolutely nothing in regards to the travel permit.
We got an RFE because we submitted the I-864 for our joint sponsor (parents in law) without submitting one for my husband who is my sponsor because I thought we didn't need to do that. So we got an RFE and resubmitted an I-864 for my husband and I-864A for his dad & mom (they file everything together and the income on the tax records is their total income, both of which meet the requirements individually). But we haven't heard anything since and we sent our response in early March. From the limited knowledge I have, cases are approved quickly after RFEs but we have been waiting 2 months now. Is this normal? What is the average time on this?
I also wanted to travel back home to renew my passport. Is this a valid reason to ask for an expedited travel permit?
Thank you

2 RepliesI wasn't sure where to post this or how to properly search the forums for a potential similar thread.
my bride is very close to her family and the sibling she's closest to is quite ill.
her I-485 was approved 12/01/2023 and the letter states that if her green card has not arrived within 90 days to call NBC. on or about March 1 I called and said "green card" to the automated phone software. this software is only programmed to respond to the phrase "green card" by ASSuming that the caller wants a replacement. I replied in the negative. asking the software for a representative returns the reply that "...if you ask for a representative again I will terminate the call".
a few days later I decided to get my local representative involved. they indicate that they can intercede about problems with a federal agency. they did so and the response from NBC was to REISSUE the same letter from the prior December. this makes it look like NBC is doing something when in reality they are not. as of May 6 there is STILL no green card and my bride wants to travel to Thailand a see her family.
today I contacted my representative's office again and related the current situation. further, I filed the same complaint with my U.S. senator.
after plowing through the USCIS website until I'm cross eyed. I don't think she can meet the emergency travel requirements. getting medical docs translated by a recognized service in her sister's area of Thailand ain't gonna happen.
thanks for any insight
