Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

Recent Immigration DiscussionsPending I-751 Should we change both our addresses using same receipt number? 6:01 pm today

2 RepliesHi all,
This is probably a dumb question but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm the citizen spouse. We have a pending I-751 (March 2023). We are moving and as I have a USCIC account from doing our I-130 ages ago, I am updating my address. My question is, in the address change process, the systsem asks if you have a receipt number. Since the I-751 is technically "jointly" filed, should I put the receipt number we got for it? Or leave it blank?
Thank you!

2 RepliesHi!
I am a US / Syrian dual national, born in the US.
I married a United Kingdom / Syrian dual national back in 2022.I initiated a divorce after a couple months of marriage after discovering my ex-husband's infidelity.
Just before the divorce "finalized" (it took 6 months according to my state's law) my ex-husband received his green card.
Instead of making a bigger mess of things, I opted to leave him be, cut contact, and allow karma to run its course.
Shortly after I initiated the divorce, a blessing came my way in the form of a great man. By coincidence, he was similar to my ex-husband, also of UK / Syrian dual background. We fell for each other and around 3 months after I filed for divorce, and a couple months before the divorce was finalized in the US, we got married in a small courthouse type marriage in Syria. Due to religious and cultural reasons, this was necessary for our relationship to develop.
It has been a year since then I am now pregnant and due in a few months with my first child. We are happily living together in Singapore and used the Syrian marriage documents to get my visa here. My family is mostly in the US and we could really use the support of family with the baby coming. So begins the search to find the best route to get my husband to the US..
My current husband did have a 1-year B2 visa back in 2018 (non-ESTA eligible because of a trip to Syria), visited some family in the US for a few days, then returned home to the UK without issue.
I consulted with a US-based immigration attorney and hold him the story outlined above. He suggested applying for a K1 / fianc visa after saying my Syrian marriage would not be valid in the US because the date on it is before my divorce was finalized in the US. Some have said that we are "too married" now to go the K1 route because I am sponsored as his "wife / homemaker" for the Singapore visa.
He also mentioned the option of getting "remarried" here in Singapore, or wherever else, and applying for the CR1 marriage visa, but he said that could take longer than the K1. My concern with doing this is that we would have to "remarry" as soon as we can somewhere to document it, then immediately apply? My case is already going to look odd enough, this would probably make it look fishy?
Some have suggested a B2 and getting married once in the US and doing a change of status. That's basically what happened with my ex-husband. We definitely do not want to go this route, so this is not an option.
Given that we have a child on the way soon, but I have a bad history with giving the wrong person a green card in the not-so-distant past, what would you say is the best route to take?
Thank you in advance
Do I need to file form I-865? 5:29 pm today

2 RepliesHello all!
Could not find this addressed and my (sponsor) brain is fried from filing paperwork all day. I'm currently in the process of completing my I-864 form for my wife's Green Card. We have filed form AR-11 since moving last month but now I am concerned that I should have filed form I-865 as well. Since I have not filed for I-864 before is it necessary for me to file form I-865? Once we do file form I-864 should I also file form I-865 since our address now is different from all the paperwork we have filed previously? All of our paperwork for the AOS is our current address.
Thanks
SSN updates after DHS Authorization removed? 4:31 pm today

7 RepliesGreetings all,
We are K1-to-AOS and soon-to-be ROC filers.
It took us a couple of trips to the SSO to remove the "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION" with the 2-year green card.
https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/821529-ssn-removing-dhs-authorization/
Now that we got the new Social Security card without the restriction, if we get the 10-year green card from the ROC or if we get the N-400 naturalization, do we need to update the SS card again with those documents? Will the SS card still look the same?
What are some potential risks if we do NOT update the SS card with the 10-year green card or the naturalization certificate?
Thanks in advance for any response.

1 RepliesHi,
I've been trying to find an appointment for my fiancee's K1 visa but the website never seems to have any available. Are there any tips you could provide me regarding days or specific times to check? Are there any businesses that helped you find an appointment?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
