  • Our Story
We met in July of 2010 and I thought because I am a Yankee and she is from the DR it would be impossible for me to even date her but even with the language barrier it was as if we were meant for each other. I thank God everyday for bringing us together. I miss her so much but talking and texting her each day helps. It is difficult but I know that God has given me that special person. With that said I filed with immigration the K1 on 11-20-2012, just received a RFE on 5-17-2013. Need proof that Grecia has never been married. Once I recieve this will have to translate. So our wait is extended a little longer.

  1. Notified on the USCIS website that my I-130 was approved and sent to the NVC on 27 May 2024. I am now researching what is next. 1. Call and verify my packet was received. 2. 2-3 weeks later call to see if a case number was assigned.  3. Begin preparing all documents needes. ie: original copy of wife birth certificate, original copy of marriage certificate and proof of support I-864 and any other documents needed.

No need to call, you just wait for your Welcome Letter which has your case number. Takes about 6 weeks so perhaps mid June.  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

Follow the step by step guide on the NVC website. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition/step-2-begin-nvc-processing.html

No, it should be on that. Are you sure it's the Welcome Letter you had? If you only had the I-130 approved on 27th May it would be very early to have the Welcome Letter already (as you can see from the above link, they are currently working on applications received from USCIS on 18th April, so you should still have another 5-6 weeks to go before you receive it).

The fee details would be attached to an email from NVC and it would be titled "Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fee". On that page would be a barcode, your case number, amount due, and invoice ID with a link to the payment page. If you don't have that, then you haven't received the Welcome Letter yet.
