ok so I have a special case. my fiance and I are from two different religious backgrounds. I can't marry her unless I legally change my religion. I don't want to change because it will affect many people around me ( strange but its a fact even though it is only paper). NVC just created and transferred my K-1 case to the embassy. my fiance is from Syria and Syria was just added to the list of full travel ban.
I am wondering what is the extent of the ban on K-1 Visas?
if K-1 is not an option anymore and I can't marry her anywhere that allows Syrians in and allow civil marriages what options do I have?
any one have any thoughts on "Utah Online marriages"? are they recognized buy USCIS?
any help is much appreciated.

Typically, yes.

Spouses though (CR-1 / IR-1) are typically not affected.

However, even with spousal visa, beneficiary may be put in super long / indefinite admin processing. But at least it's not a black & white outright ban.

You would have to visit in person after marrying before eligible to file a petition.

Utah online marriages are recognized by USCIS and consulates, but as @SalishSea mentioned, you need to meet in person during or after the ceremony before you can file the I130 before those entities will recognize the marriage.  I would def8nitely pursue the spousal visa option in this case, as I expect the K1’s may be impacted by the travel bans.

Good Luck!

you would not be able to consumate the Utah marriage in Syria if family is serious about the religion / like maybe not even able to stay in the same house or room

There is one way/ convert in Syria and marry there/ this does not mean you have to practice that religion in the USA

even can convert back if your religions demands it to be done formally

we are of 2 different religions in my house

Just respect her religion and be supportive of her needs to practice it

My wife even fast with me during Ramadan

you need to agrree about children and what u will teach them in regards to religion / this could be a factor down the line

so talk about it now

Her family approved of our relationship. Her family is secular. So we can consummate the marriage. As far as kids, she does't have a problem what so ever with them being Christian. in fact she would rather they go to church so this not an issue either.

Update:
So I talked to 2 attorneys. They both suggested that I wait until we hear from the Embassy since we are at this point of the process. not sure what there reasoning is for this.
I should hear from the embassy soon and will give an update.
