Quite surprising when he is actively attacking immigrants who came on Biden's humanitarian programs, and just immigrants in general... Yet for Elon's birth country, lets make an exception.

I must admit I found it hilarious that the local Progressive media had done a sudden u turn, or are they just racist?

To be fair all those lawn signs seem to have disappeared, hopefully they were recycled

Of course they have been telling me about the taking of white farmers land and the killings of white farmers and the burning of their homes.

The BB has a relevant take on this, and the closing paragraph is priceless:

South Africa Denounces White Refugees For Leaving Before They Had A Chance To Take All Their Stuff And Kill Them

CAPE TOWN — While controversy over displaced farmers swirled in the United States, officials in South Africa denounced white refugees for leaving before they had a chance to take all their stuff and kill them.

As white South Africans fled to the United States in search of refuge, leaders in their home country expressed outrage that they just took off rather than stay and be persecuted and killed for being white.

"This is unacceptable," said Lungelo Nkosi-Jones, who heads up South Africa's Ministry of White Persecution.  [...]

US Supreme Court allows Trump to strip protections from some Venezuelans; deportations could follow

WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to strip legal protections from 350,000 Venezuelans, potentially exposing them to deportation.

The court's order, with only one noted dissent, puts on hold a ruling from a federal judge in San Francisco that kept in place Temporary Protected Status for the Venezuelans that would have otherwise expired last month. The justices provided no rationale, which is common in emergency appeals.

The status allows people already in the United States to live and work legally because their native countries are deemed unsafe for return due to natural disaster or civil strife.

A federal appeals court had earlier rejected the administration's request to put the order on hold while the lawsuit continues.

Tell me you know nothing about the cultural and historical makeup of SA, without telling me you know nothing about the cultural and historical makeup of SA.

Elon Musk is not just a white South African--he's a British South African, a distinct ethnic group from the Afrikaners whose origins are from the Netherlands.  For context, the Boer settlers arrived in the Cape in 1652--three decades after the Mayflower landed in Plymouth and about 200 years before the Bantu migrations settled the Zulu tribe, SA's dominant black population, in what is now the province of KwaZulu-Natal, on the opposite side of the country.

In the 17th century the native population of the region to become South Africa were two nomadic tribes called the Khoi and the San--indigenous and distinct cultures who did not settle the land and had generally good relations with the Boers.  You can enjoy looking up how diplomatic relations fared between anyone in Africa, black or white, when it came to the Zulu empire.  The relations between Afrikaners and the British is a tenuous and tumultuous history.  My husband, who is British-Rhodesian while bearing his father's Afrikaner name, knows this divide all too well.

So when you say this action is a means to placate the whims of Elon Musk, I have to mildly interject that your generalizations based on skin color are awkwardly misguided and racist, and that you haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about.

You've misread me. Unlike you, I am actually an advocate of opening our borders to immigrants that are from countries where due to the political climate the people of this area have their lives in danger. That would include support for countries like Venezuela, Haiti, and even South Africa where your life is at risk daily from gangs, unlawfulness, oppressive regimes, etc. I do think that the process should have some level or order and background checks, such that we can protect US citizens from potential criminal immigrants. It should also include a plan for how the people arriving will become productive members of society. I am pro-lawful-immigration and for helping people from countries where their lives are at risk. We can't save everyone, but if we can save a few and they can give back to our society, then I welcome them.

I am not against this SA refugee program by Trump, I merely find it quite hypocritical for Trump to actively target lawful immigrants that arrived on Biden's CHNV program, and be vocal about how it was illegal for Biden to do that, and then turn around and do the exact same thing for SA. If Trump wasn't actively attacking lawful immigrants that arrived on CHNV, then I never would have shared this news article.  I am pro-SA refugee program, but I think if you are going to support one program and not the other then you should own being a hypocrite and not make excuses for it.

Is it the exact same thing?  Wasn't Biden simply paroling a bunch of people from some countries while they wait for an asylum hearing, but in the case here these folks have been vetted through the congressionally authorized refugee program.  Keep in mind asylum seekers and refugees are not the same thing.

The entire Biden thing was based on an EO, so not rooted in the law, so it can be easily corrected or modified via a new EO.  We shall see how it all shakes out in the end.
