Question - My N-400 interview invite says it'll be at 9:00AM, and the I-751 letter says that my spouse has to be present on that day because the N-400 interview may be preceded by an interview for the I-751. Does this mean that the I-751 interview could start before 9:00AM? We were planning on arriving at the USCIS office around 8:20AM-8:30AM - and we are NOT planning on bringing our toddler to the interview (just his birth certificate); hopefully they don't need our child to be present.

Your child does not need to be present (nor would I recommend taking the child).  I think your arrival time is fine.

anyone filed at similar time in Arizona? I saw some ppl said they would not schedule interview until you reached 3-year GC anniversary? My 3-year GC anniversary would falls on 04/02/2024, hope the interview letter will happen in April.

USCIS usually schedule the interviews for after your 3 or 5 year anniversary

Hi everyone

I had my n400 interview March 14th in New Jersey. I passed the civic test and  at the end the officer told me that I was approved but she could not make a decision because my I-751 has not been approved yet.( I applied Sep 2022) She said she requested my case to be transferred to her and once she receives it she will approve it and then she can approve my n400. yesterday I received a letter from uscis saying that my case was transferred to national benefit center, MO

and that office now has the jurisdiction. Nothing has changed since then.

Reading experiences in this forum, I feel my case is so unusual and it is frustrating.

Please let me know if you have the same experience. Thanks

It really isn't, lots of people have to wait for the I-751 to be adjudicated for the N-400 to be approved. It sucks but it has happened before. It's been only a week and your case has been moved, meaning it is doing something instead of just sitting in place, so give it a bit more time and you will get both approved soon.

I noticed there are some who filed N-400 after me and already received an interview appointment. My service center according to the receipt letter is NBC and I filed online. Does online filing take longer?

No, online vs. mailed it it's all the same. Biometrics reuse or not, it's usually all the same. Some people just hear back sooner, and for others it takes longer. Only the USCIS can answer why, but I'd say it's because they have an inconsistent system and likely the most reasonable explanation. There is no correlation.

It actually depends more on your Field Office (where your interview will take place). Some areas seem super fast, maybe because they have fewer applicants. But even then it seems inconsistent. I've looked at the Timelines and some people who file from the same city at the same time have very different processing times...

CR1 Visa

USCIS STAGE: 16 days No expedite request but USC residing abroad
NVC STAGE: 19 days from case # to case complete
03/27/12: interview at Paris embassy - APPROVED
04/12/12: POE San Diego

ROC
01/15/14: sent I-751 application

05/14/14: received card production notification by e-mail, approval date 05/13

Naturalization

02/01/24: N-400 submitted online; Biometrics reuse notice received immediately online; "case being actively reviewed" after a couple hours

02/09/24: received NOA1 by mail

02/10/24: received biometrics reuse notice by mail

04/08/24: interview scheduled for 05/14. Received "We have taken an action in your case" email.

05/14/24: approved at interview, same-day oath ceremony in San Francisco 🥳 🇺🇸

Passport

06/10/24: application submitted at post office for passport book and card, paid for expedited processing and shipping

06/24/24: received email notification that passport was approved, then shipped with tracking number

06/25/24: passport received

@minivatreni: Is this a rule ? or it this your observation ?

You can have the interview before your anniversary, but you cannot have the oath before. I personally have not seen any interview scheduled before anyone’s anniversary date. It’s not a “rule” it’s just what USCIS does.
