I agree with most of what's been said. Hamas (and Islamic jihad) need to be destroyed. And they're going to be. Gaza will become a tent city inshallah.

Yes but it would also bring heavy destruction on Israel. Hezbollah has many more, and much more accurate rockets than hamas. However Lebanon will become a ghost town.

The Moral Duty to Destroy Hamas

 

A mob of Islamist Arabs incited by Jew-hatred entered the town and killed as many Jews as they could find.  They went door to door, broke into the homes of their victims, and slaughtered innocent men, women and children.  These gangs raped, mutilated and tortured them while screaming "Kill the Jews!"

That was 94 years ago, on Saturday, Aug. 24, 1929, in Hebron.  The picture is essentially the same, only that then the Arab riots that included this massacre ended with 133 Jews murdered.  This time, it is several times as many, and we don't know the final figure.

 

Given that the events are virtually the same, the question is: Why?  There was no state of Israel in 1929.  There were no "occupied" territories, no "settlers."  There was no "blockade."  No security fence, no checkpoints, nothing.  If the excuses of today's murderers did not exist at that time, what did exist?  [...]

OK it is a passing reference and not really pertinent to the subject. It was a different time and he seems to be looking back with rose tinted glasses. I could happily argue the opposite. 

 

I do agree with a lot of the other stuff, his description of the IDF reminds me of the US Armed Forces, now the US has the advantage of the Atlantic and Pacific. The IDF has a distinct lack of defensible space.

 

 I always assumed that Israel was on borrowed times, the Jewish population is I think just over 3 times that of Gaza, look at the surrounding States and probably outnumbered 30 to 1 and with Countries that have no issues taking casualties.

 

Short version Israel has to win every time, or to put it another way if the surrounding States disarmed nothing much would happen, if Israel did they would be nobody left by the end of the month.

 

Of course they have Nukes so I presume every surrounding Nation would be impacted. Reminds of a board game called Nuclear War, if you were eliminated you had the opportunity of combing all your cards and attacking the remaining players, quite common for nobody to win.

Yes -- Israel's population is (I think) around 10 million.  It was pointed out that Israel's losing 1,100 people (so far) is like the U.S. losing 40,000 -- a really, really big hit.
