N400 Application - Additional evidence [merged threads]

Hi, I am applying for Naturalization online through the 5-year rule. There is an option to attach additional evidence to support my application. The section says "You can provide additional documents that support your application and help explain any of your responses on the application. If you want to provide additional evidence now, upload any documents below. You can also bring the documents to your naturalization interview."

 

All my answers did not trigger any comments. Do you recommend any documents that I can provide to make the process easier?

IRS tax return transcripts for the last 5 years.

Hi,

 

I am getting ready to submit my application at the end of this month under the 5-year rule.

I attached the tax return transcript for the last 5 years as optional additional evidence. Is there any other evidence you recommend that can the process smoother? 

Also, I got a speeding and a few red light tickets in the last few years. Do I need to report any of those? I did not see any questions regarding traffic tickets.

Thank you. That's similar to what I included as required documents (Green card, divorce decree, selective service registration proof) for my case. I am not currently married and my I-751 is already approved.

I uploaded the tax transcripts and combo interview letter as unsolicited evidence.  It was a piece of cake.

Answer yes to the appropriate questions, and upload evidence that those cases were resolved

There is a question that says "Have you ever been cited, arrested, or detained...?" answer "yes", provide records.

You need to go to court house of each jurisdiction where you paid your fine. Some jurisdictions might let you do this online.

 

In some cases your records might have automatically been expunged. In that case you would get a statement of no record.

We had all that and MORE, the only thing that the IO asked were our driver licenses... Go figure. 

Well, we didn't have combo letter. I just told the IO that we have 751 pending when she called my wife's name. 

 

There was a guy waiting for the interview. I assumed completely unprepared (everybody in the waiting room had vanilla folders with documents). He didn't have anything on him. After his interview (about 5 minutes) he came out with piece of paper smattered with yellow highlighter. I guess they gave him instructions on what to bring next time. 

So, the conclusion is to be prepared even if they don't ask you to provide documents.

I am currently in the process of filing N400 online with the 5-year rule. A few questions I have:

1. Can I upload pictures taken by phone of the GC or does it have to be a photocopy?
2. Should I upload a copy of my driver's license?
3. Do they ask to see an expired passport during the interview? I would think yes if they want to verify stamps.

1. Yes. Just make sure the picture is clear enough.

2. If instructed. Probably not needed. A nice thing about filing online is that you are prompted if anything is missing.

3. You should definitely have it with you. They sometimes ask, depending on the case.

Photos should be arranged 4 to 6 per 8.5x11 inch PDF page and uploaded that way:

They can. IMO this is unlikely. But they can. My wife and I each prepared for it, but we were not asked.

 

If you have your expired passports, bring them.
