I gather this was explained to Ford  before he pardoned Nixon, Bush II before he effectively pardoned Bill Clinton, and Trump before he decided to not prosecute Hillary Clinton.

However, the crowd up there is drooling over a cuffed perp-walk, mug shots, etc.

Elon Musk says that if Trump is arrested, his reelection is guaranteed.

Won't the DA go for remand?  The Democrats need to keep the January 6th narrative alive with the claim that leaving Trump out is too dangerous.  As to the Leftist political circus, the timing seems curious as it is happening right when we are seeing how the Biden family has been profiting simply due to Old Corrupt Joe's political influence peddling.
