I-134 Affidavit of Support Form Confusion, Interpreter Question (Instructions Do Not Help)

So thankfully, we're on to the I-134 form. I'm the individual who's looking to sponsor my beneficiary spouse and I'm filling out this form.

 

My question is, since she is not yet fluent in English, does she have to get an interpreter?

 

On page 8 under part 4 - "Statement, Contact Information Certification and Signature of the Beneficiary." Beneath this, it says, "If you are the beneficiary and are filing Form I-134 on your own behalf, complete and sign part 4." Therein, in part 4, it says, that if the person isn't fluent in English, they either need an interpreter or a preparer. 

 

My question is -- since I'm the one filling out the I-134 on the Beneficiary's behalf, do they still need the interpreter? They're not initiating the I-134, I'm filling it out for them.

If the beneficiary is your spouse, you do not file the i-134 at all.  You need to file an I-864.

 

To a newer your question about the I-134, though, there is no need for an interpreter.

Sorry, I just want to clarify -- we have not yet married, so we would still fill out the I-134 form given that our I-129F was approved, correct? 

 

Presuming that the I-134 is still the right form for us, if she doesn't need an interpreter as suggested above, but she is also not completely fluent in English, what do we fill out on this part of the form for her as the "Beneficiary?"

The beneficiary is not filling out the form. As per the instruction, do not fill out part 4

I think you need to hire a professional to fill out your forms. 
 

There are only so many ways I can answer the same question.

It is pretty self-explanatory.  You are the petitioner, your fiancé is the beneficiary (be careful referring to her as your spouse).  When filling out the I134 for a K1 visa application you do not fill out Part 4 as it explicitly states "if filling Form I-134 on his or her own behalf" which is not the case for you or any other petitioner sponsoring a fiancé (form I134 is used for other applications where a beneficiary may fill it out Part 4 on their own).

 

No she is not required to sign the I134 for her case.

Got it, thanks. I just wanted to make sure she neither had to fill out nor sign any part of that--just don't want her to show up to the interview with any information lacking.

 

I was confused because in this video, this seeming expert suggests that the Beneficiary does need to fill out Part 4 and sign regardless.

The I-134 form is the stupidest form you will ever encounter and I, too, recently struggled with all its nonsensical twists and turns. There should be a separate form for when a beneficiary intends to support himself. You don’t have to complete that ridiculous section 4 if the beneficiary isn’t supporting herself. I sympathize.

You are correct, the I134 is a useless form particularly when related to a K1 as it is not enforceable, it is confusing, and if everything goes according to plan, it will be replaced by the I864 during the AOS process.
