  1. Hi All, My fiancee and I are in the process of finishing up the K1 process, with the hope that she will be able to come to the States this coming year. I have a steady (decently-paying) job, but a bit in the way of credit card debt. My fiancee is very smart, but hasn't yet finished college, and I was hoping that she might be able to attend a local university after getting her permanent residency, with the assumption that she might get it in 8-14 months. Now, however, I'm seeing that it could take her anywhere from 12-20.5mos to get her AOS, and I'm just feeling extraordinarily daunted by everything that lies ahead, particularly given that from what I've read, a person waiting on their AOS can apply to get a work authorization, but there is no such similar authorization for public college loans. I kind of feel like my financial runway just got significantly more complicated. Does anyone have any experience with this, or any strategies to get student loans while waiting on the AOS? My plan was to have her continue with her credits at a community college before finishing up at a 4 year. Thanks.
  2. Hi All, My fiancee was filling out this form here per the instructions following the DS-160, etc., https://ais.usvisa-info.com/pt-br/iv/users/sign_in and when she goes to pay, it constantly says that there are no new dates available and that you have to wait to pay and (I assume) to schedule an interview, etc? Does anyone know how long it takes for those new dates to appear on the website, and how frequently said site is updated? Thanks!
  3. Hey All, Sorry, last annoying question -- when you have to give the CBP, USCIS, et. al your updated address at which your Beneficiary/Fiancee will be staying, do you also have to give any kind of proof of lease/utilities for the address at which you were previously staying? (The one that you'll be leaving?) Thanks!
  4. Thanks so much all--this is amazing and I really appreciate it! I've been staying with family for a bit to save this year in advance of her arrival, and it's been a little tough. Much appreciated!
  5. Ok, thanks so much. Sorry to keep asking the same question--I'm just paranoid -- so my fiancee won't be penalized for that post-visa receipt address change, right? We just have to make sure that CBP/USCIS have the most up-to-date information, correct, upon entry, and going forward?
  6. Sorry, can you clarify what you mean by USC? Like, basically, could you (as the sponsor) have put one address on the K1/Visa app, move to an apartment afterward, then provide the new apartment's address/lease documents, etc. to the port of entry folks and to the online AR-11 USCIS address change and have your Fiancee/Beneficiary be ok? Thanks!
  7. Hi All, After your fiancee receives their visa, but prior to them setting foot on U.S. soil, is there any limitation on when you, yourself, can move? Like, should you wait until they come to the States before moving, or can you just move to a new place before they come and update where you've moved later on? Thanks!
  8. Sorry, I keep using spouse and fiancee interchangeably. This is amazing advice. Thank you so very much!
  9. Hi, We got our NOA2 back in early June, and I just checked in with the NVC given that my Beneficiary spouse has yet to receive her introductory packet/we have yet to receive confirmation that they have sent our K1 application to the Embassy in her country. Nevertheless, the NVC contact gave me an invoice number and a beneficiary id. According to the stats on VJ, it says it currently takes about 67 days to send the introductory packet to Beneficiaries on average. Given that we have now received the invoice number and beneficiary ID, should I direct my Beneficiary fiancee to begin filling out the DS-160 online, or should I just be patient and wait for the information packet from the US Embassy in her country? The approval notice (NOA2) that we received says that it is valid until October 8th, and so given that timing, I'm a little concerned about what happens if she doesn't have an interview by that date. Thanks!
  10. "So your beneficiary should put whichever address is current at the time of DS-160 submission. If your address changes by the time of the interview, your beneficiary should update the DS-160 info at the consulate on the day of the interview." I suppose my one worry is that all of my identifying info -- bank statements/accounts, address on file with my employer, etc., is still at my old address. If I move out by the time my fiancee has her interview, wouldn't it just be better to have her give them that same old address, so it's consistent with all of the proof of ongoing relationship/financial support documentation that I'm giving them to finish out the K1 process? My concern is that if I say, "hey, I sent you all this information that says I live at (old address)" and then, say, I move to an AirBnb by the time my fiancee has the interview"--I'm worried that I might just confuse them and raise suspicion if I give them my new address at an AirBnB, especially if I'm planning on going apartment hunting (for an apartment for the both of us) by the time she comes. Like is anyone actually going to check to see if I'm still at the old address? Sorry, I'm just trying to make this as simple as possible. I just don't think I can stay with family anymore by the time my fiancee has her interview.
  11. Hi, Thanks for your response. Understood. I was worried that following my fiancee's upcoming interview, a consular officer might seek to contact the owner of my current residence to verify that they would agree/were aware that I intended to have my fiancee stay here. Does that ever happen? I was also under the impression that for the K1 Visa I would have to use the I-134 instead of the I-864, and that the latter is for an eventual Green Card Application. Thank you.
  12. Hi All, Sorry if this is a duplicative question, but I'm curious about the best way to handle this -- I'm currently gathering documents to send to my fiancee in her home country following receipt of the NOA2, and I'm wondering how to handle the fact that while I currently live (with family) in one residence, I'm planning to move out until my fiancee arrives in the United States. Then, when she comes, I'm planning on finding a new apartment in which for us to live. Does that looks bad in the eyes of USCIS, or is that ok? I guess my thought is to, on the Affidavit of Support: 1. To put my current physical address (where I presently live with family) on the Affidavit of Support 2. In additional information for the Affidavit of Support, convey that while I am currently staying at my present address, I may soon move to another address until such time as my fiancee comes, then I plan that we'll go apartment hunting when she arrives. 3. Convey how much money I have set aside for a new apartment, and other pertinent details about where we intend to move, what date we intend to move, etc. Is there any issue with doing this? I suppose I'm just trying to stay as transparent as possible and in the case that a consular officer wants more information about what our plans are, I just want to make sure we're on the up and up. By the way, I totally make enough money to find a new apartment--things just got weird with my family and I. Thanks.
  13. Would there be any repercussion if my fiancée put my “old” address from which I’d like to move on the DS-160 and if she referenced that in the interview? Is there ever going to be any future check to see if she/we reside there? thanks!
  14. Hello, I'm thinking that I may need to vacate where I live and move to another location until my fiancee comes to the States. We received our NOA2 a few weeks ago, supposedly our documents are being sent to the NVC, and I just want to make sure that I won't need to receive any super important mail between now and when she is granted her visa. I checked the timeline but didn't see any such documents. Thanks!
  15. Got it, thanks. I just wanted to make sure she neither had to fill out nor sign any part of that--just don't want her to show up to the interview with any information lacking. I was confused because in this video, this seeming expert suggests that the Beneficiary does need to fill out Part 4 and sign regardless. Thanks for your time!
  16. But she does have to sign on page 9, right? Or do I just mark N/A for everything under Part 4 under Beneficiary's Statement?
  17. Sorry, I just want to clarify -- we have not yet married, so we would still fill out the I-134 form given that our I-129F was approved, correct? Presuming that the I-134 is still the right form for us, if she doesn't need an interpreter as suggested above, but she is also not completely fluent in English, what do we fill out on this part of the form for her as the "Beneficiary?" Thanks.
  18. So thankfully, we're on to the I-134 form. I'm the individual who's looking to sponsor my beneficiary spouse and I'm filling out this form. My question is, since she is not yet fluent in English, does she have to get an interpreter? On page 8 under part 4 - "Statement, Contact Information Certification and Signature of the Beneficiary." Beneath this, it says, "If you are the beneficiary and are filing Form I-134 on your own behalf, complete and sign part 4." Therein, in part 4, it says, that if the person isn't fluent in English, they either need an interpreter or a preparer. My question is -- since I'm the one filling out the I-134 on the Beneficiary's behalf, do they still need the interpreter? They're not initiating the I-134, I'm filling it out for them. Thanks.
  19. Hi All, My local post office is incompetent. I'm pretty sure I may have gotten a K1 Approval notice (the status is "approved" via the website) while visiting my soon to be fiancee overseas for 10 days but I'm pretty sure they lost the notice. In the case that the post office HAS LOST that document is there any information on the I-129F Approval Form that we need to have in order to move on to the next step of the process -- e.g. info on the DS-160, the embassy info, medical exam info, etc? I'm going to try to get a P.O. Box so that this doesn't happen again and have USPS route all future mail to that box. With enough time having already passed, I already sent a follow-up service request to USCIS, requesting that they send the approval, again. But do we risk anything if I don't get that approval document in hand? Is there any info on the NOA2 that wouldn't have been on the I-797C? Thanks!
  20. So instead, I would just write: Harvey Jacobson (Sponsor) - 09/27/1956 - Self - $100,000 - for my total income, and let that be it? Thanks.
  21. Hi All, I'm filling out the I-134 for the K! Visa's affidavit of support, and when it comes to the income section for the sponsor on page 6, #14 -- https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-134.pdf, I'm trying to figure out what the correct information is to put in. For example, I assume it's asking for my current income, but I'm not sure how to distinguish that from the money that I'd be giving to the beneficiary. For example, let's say my full income were $100,000. Would I say: Full Name (Sponsor) - Date of Birth - Self - $80,000. Full Name (Sponsor) - Date of Birth - Self - Income Contribution to Beneficiary - $20,000 then for total income, at the bottom, write $100,000? Thanks!
