You need to pay the $220 fee for the production of the actual card .  Recommended to pay it before you enter. On entry your ir visa will be stamped and endorsed by the CBP officer and will be your evidence of lpr status while you wait for the actual card to be delivered. It can take weeks or months to come  You have LPR status as soon as you enter the US

Your documentation is electronic .. no envelope.

@Margo2017777

I  am a little confused by your timeline .. K1 and AOS.. and now IR1.

Yes, it is confusing! I got K1 few years ago and came to U.S but had to leave before my GC interview due to my husband employment abroad . So we decided to do all over again but with wife VISA.

so will wait for my passport and see for further instructions!  Thanks again.

You need to enter the visa information printed on the passport in order to pay the immigration fee.  It can be paid as soon as you get your passport with the visa, or anytime after, even after arriving to the US.  It is recommended to pay it as soon as you can.
