Done with interview and officer recommended an approval [merged threads]

Officer recommended us an approval after our interviewand Gcard will be in mail in 2-3 weeks he said but still the I-485 still " Interviewe scheduled " and the I-130 approved. its been nearly 3weeks now after our interview. He gave me a paper saying "case being held for interview" 

Then Officer: its just a proof you finished your interview, nothing to worry. 
 

I'm really confused, is it a good sign or sshould i be worried? Hoping the officer sayign the truth. Apparently officer was happy after our interview tho. If anyone has been in my situation please share your experience so could have an idea whats going on. Thank you.

Every applicant gets that paper after the interview 

 

They technically have 120 days to make a decision before you can inquire. Nothing you can do but keep waiting

Oh i see. I dont get it why the officer said the Card will be in the mail 2-3 weeks If there's no proper approval? Just confused and smae time makes me worried. I dont know why. Thank you for replying 🙏🏽

Interesting, it's a new-ish thing that everyone gets that kind of document after the interview? I got an actual approval paper back in 2017, not "held for review". I feel like things change all the time these days. 🧐

Not really a new thing. If you got a straight approval that means you were interviewed by the supervisor. The reason one gets “held for review” is because all approvals have to be run by the supervisor first. Everyone I know who went though AOS got the paper, I don’t think I know someone who got a direct approval (that’s lucky if you did, you’re not in limbo)

Ah, I thought you meant everyone - as in EVERYONE - gets the review letter, which I figured must've been a new-ish thing if so since I didn't get one "back in the day" (how old am I).
Either way, yes just like with any other application I guess it's either approval, review or denial. My approval notice was certainly nothing fancy, I received the official approval letter in the mail a week later. 

OP: Held for review is perfectly normal and nobody can tell you how long it will take, unfortunately. Like powerpuff said, sometimes the person interviewing you isn't even allowed to make the final decision and will have to go to a supervisor to get that done, and if that supervisor is very busy you may have to wait a while. Since the person who interviewed you talked about your greencard it seems he didn't see any issues with your case - so I wouldn't worry about that if I were you. Like with everything else USCIS related, it's just a waiting game.

It's been 129 days since our green card interview and my I-485 still interview scheduled(no update). I-130 approved. Im just worried because we got recommended for approval verbally from the IO. The officer was very nice and happy didn't even say anything wrong with our situations or grilled me. I came here on Esta, just before my departure day my gf convinced me not to leave her, so we decided to get married and submitted my AOS after my visa expired. And before my visa expires we didnt know my wife was already pregnant that time, I have no intention on staying here cause i had work back in UK and didn't have any families around here in US. Thinking its gonna be hsrd for me. And now she's pregnant and i have to stay with her.

Have you tried contacting USCIS about this? There's also the ombudsman. You can also try your representative (state politician) to help get an answer.

Perhaps it is undergoing extra scrutiny because you are attempting to adjust from an ESTA and while out of status.

AOS always looks like a great idea until it doesn’t. I think people underestimate the ‘not being able to work or leave the US’ part.
 

I assume you were aware of all the implications when deciding to do AOS? You could have told your partner that doing AOS would put you in a difficult spot, and that leaving the US on time and doing the CR1 would be a better decision for the long run.
 

My husband and I were in the same boat, I was visiting the US and when we talked with a lawyer, they said I would be eligible for AOS, but I was not going to put myself in that situation and my husband completely understood.

Sure but this is a moot point for OP since not only adjustment of status was already filed but the interview already happened. 129 days past interview and no response is not normal even if the answer is no.

I didn't think the intent at CBP mattered for immediate relatives adjusting once the paperwork was filed? Ditto for the overstay?
