Hopefully told her to take a nap. :)

Not at all...even though it will be the middle of the night I am sure that she will be interested in seeing this new world that she has traveled to. I'm also sure that we'll be too happy to finally be together again that we'll likely be holding hands the entire way home. I'm guessing she'll also be hungry...so I'm trying to figure out what I might be able to buy her or prepare for her so that she'll have something to eat either on the way home or at least waiting for her when we get there.

A simple sandwich + cold bottled drink will be quite sufficient to hold her till you get home -- the cold drink perhaps more than the sandwich.  Maybe add a snack bag of chips.  Mrs. T-B. always appreciated that when coming back from Ecu (except she called them "cheaps" ).

And don't overthink things. :)

A sandwich is great, but if you can get her a Filipino rice meal instead (plenty of Filipino stores in Houston), you'll get a few bonus smooches for sure!

I went through their CBP last July when I came back from Argentina as a PR. I was with my USC husband. The CBP line was….. the longest I’ve seen so far, and I’ve been to all major airports in the US. And I could see they were calling people to secondary left and right. I’d never, ever seen something like that before. I had my extension letter, my expired green card, my marriage certificate and my USC hubby with me, I was ready to fight.. yet the officer spent literally a second reading my letter and typing something in the computer and I was good to go

Just don't land there between 1 - 4pm and 8 - 10pm. Those are the typical times for those long range big planes. 1 - 4 pm is worse; Emirates, Qatar, KLM, Lufthansa and Turkish altogether land at those times. You will be there for 4 hours.

I landed 8 -10pm 3 weeks ago and just 2 long range flights made me stay in the queue 2 hours. If that's the case, then know that 1 - 4 pm is worse. I've landed during that time too and it was horrible. After my last pass 3 weeks ago, I'm considering saving my McDonald's $$ and getting that global entry.

I wish I was CBP, if the pay was good. If I see any of you VJers, extra scrutiny, looking at you @Rocio0010 with your USC husband + MC 🤧

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Hi Folks,

Not sure where this question should be posted but there seems to be a severe lack of entries on the review of the George Bush Intercontinental Airport reviews. Can some of those who have been through that POE recently post some of their reviews for those who are soon to be experiencing it?

Thanks!

Kawika

its  no different than any other landing airport in US. you land, deboard the plane, complete your immigration, collect luggage and go home

duh

I actually thought about picking up some Jollibee from the Sugar Land location (I work out there)...but was also worried about trying to keep it for the 6-7 hours before she arrived & would potentially be able to eat it. I personally wouldn't care about eating food sitting around for that long...but I'm not quite sure if she would be OK with it as well.

Lol...I think I'll keep that review to myself & not share it with my overly worried fiancé :)

Give her worst case scenario so she can be prepared and won’t be TOOOOO shocked when she arrives. I remember being questioned heavily and then having my bag searched my first trip to the US… not a fun experience but I wasn’t surprised.

The CBP agents might be too tired at that time to do much harassment.  Definitely write it up, both in the reviews and here.

At least you shouldn't have much traffic on I-10 going home to Katy.

I landed in O’Hare at midnight a few years back and CBP were so tired they asked one question then let me through..they saved their energy for people needing to go to secondary.

I have no appetite after a flight… get something small and maybe have something waiting at home you can warm up… OR get her favorite drink or snack (that won’t spoil) a bag of chips or candy- for her to have in the car when you’re driving.

and don’t be surprised if she does fall asleep on the way home… after a long flight and while driving in the dark she just might be too exhausted to process all the new things…

Lol...yeah...I grew up in Hawai'i...so we often just took whatever food we had handy around the house or even just bought some cheesburgers from McDonalds before going camping at the beach for a couple of days. And I remember buying pizza in college on a Friday & still snacking on it on a Sunday with it sitting in the box on my desk all weekend. Probably why my immune system is so strong these days :)
