Applied for I-130 in August 2022 - what next?

So, I applied for the I-130 visa in August. Haven't heard anything. However the website says that a decision should be made in 2 months.

 

This confuses me.

 

Aren't things that need to be done? Spousal interview? Background check?

 

Anyone have any information as to what the next steps usually are? My wife and I are trying to plan or guesstimate when she may arrive.

USCIS (I-130 approval) is just the first step in the process. There is NVC stage after and then consulate.

 

It seems like there needs to be research done to be familiar with the process:

 I-130 approvals take about a year. 
 

You should expect 18-24 months from filing petition to visa in hand. This depends on the backlog of the consulate. Some easily take more than 24 months.

It's probably the USCIS online account time estimate. Unfortunately it's misleading a lot of people into thinking it's accurate. I wish they didn't do this to give people hope when the reality is way worse.

i sincerely hope u did not put San antonio in the space for US office as interview will be in Boliva

putting san antonio in that space (which is only meant for those coming on K1 and adusting status here)  will delay your case and costs u another fee to send in the I 824 to correct the error 

 

look for the office assigned to your I 130 (bottom of your i 791 receipt ) and check the following for processing times

 

case will be in Nebraska,  Potamac,  california,  texas or Vermont

Right, because so many fail to familiarize themselves with the overall process, and have no idea that petition approval is only part of it.

No. I put it on this site. I looked at my 797 receipt (don't have a 791). Says Nebraska. Using your link it says approximately 10.5 months. But is that 10.5 months before it gets to NVS?

Yes. NVC stage comes after the I 130 approval which is estimated to take 10’months. Note estimate only

Please take this estimated processing time feature with a grain of salt. It will most likely count all the way down and then change to “taking longer to process”. It is not a very reliable feature yet.
