From people I have talked to, and personal experience I don't think that any basic firearm safety from your spouse or even if you take a CCW class, or firearms safety class is going to require you to mark yes in the box. They are looking for actual military serious weeks long training usually involved with some terrorist group. My wife has her CCW and has received training from me, and the classes she took in basic firearm safety. We have applied for the N400 back in November, and we didn't mark yes on that question. Since this has come up before, when we get our interview as long as everything goes well, and we don't have " The IO out to destroy people" I will ask about this. The few interviews we have had thru this process we have had mostly nice IO's, so if we get a good one, I will ask his opinion on it and report back.

Thank you so much! It’s a tricky question I feel, because it encompasses many options. The more I think about it, the more I consider that what I’ve received is not “weapon training”, so I’m inclined to answer “no” and then like you, hope for an understanding IO, ask about my experience, make the necessary amendments (if needed) and report back.

Howdy y'all!

I have yet another question:

I have a stepson. On the N400 application it is asking me about his info, which I provided. However, when I do get to the "evidence" part it is asking me for his birth certificate and evidence of child support. It says "if you don't provide this evidence your application may be delayed". I can definitely provide his birth certificate, but of course my name will not be in there. 

Also, my husband is the one paying child support. I can provide the evidence that he's been paying, but is it necessary for this application? Can I submit it as it is and then provide it at the interview?

Rocio didn't mention US passport. Her USC husband may not necessarily have it. BC is applicable in this situation in my opinion.

Not required, but one of the options to prove he is a USC. I chose to use my BC as proof I'm a citizen, rather than my passport.

US passport is issued to US nationals also, who are not US citizens.

 

Birth certificate or Naturalization certificate is the stronger evidence and I would include it instead of passport.

Passports say country of birth.  If a USC was born in the US, I wouldn't hesitate to use a US Passport.  If born abroad, that's a bit different and I'd agree with the BC.

Hi again all,

just another question about addresses for the past five years. Is it ok if the dates are slightly off? For example two weeks or a week. I’m trying hard to remember and I will also see if those addresses were listed on my i-485, but if they weren’t and I can’t remember the dates very well, would it be an issue?
