We got our NOA, so now we just wait for an update on Biometrics? It said we would receive an email .... in a few months, god willing? Also, for the NOA letter we have to start using in March once my husbands GC expires, do you recommend bringing the ACTUAL letter, or  can a copy do when traveling? I dont love the idea of traveling with that NOA but if we have to we will. Also, has anyone brought with them instructions on the form/info on the extension incase we get to immigration in the US and they have no idea what that letter is/challenge us. we plan to go back to england in may and will need to bring the letter.

What length of extension was on the NOA - 24, 36, or 48 months?

You will likely not receive emails/texts. This is sporadic at best from USCIS, and some people have only ever received NOAs and the final green card, with zero communication from USCIS in the interim.

You need to travel with the original NOA at all times when leaving the USA, but it is recommended that you also make some copies that you can give to the airlines if they request to keep a copy. The CBP officers will know what to do, and if they don't they will be able to speak to a supervisor. Airlines is where it is typically a lot more challenging, as they need to add the number of extension months to the expiration date on your physical green card as the new "expiry" date of your card.

Adding to the list of ROC filers! We sent our packet 1/20 to the Carol Stream, IL lockbox. It's delivered but not picked up for anyone else waiting on the IL lockbox. Fingers crossed on a smooth process! 🤞

You might be one of the first people getting a 48 month extension letter.

Hi! it is 36 months.

So I guess just check every few months if it says anything for biometrics / interview. It says another NOA letter will come if they need our biometrics, i guess we just wait. i assume same with interview, a letter will come if they want it.

thanks for confirming. got it. once march 24 hits and we leave the us, we will bring that all with us. so when we book our trip to england in may, when we get to checking in, show them the letter so they can do that manually?

Yup exactly. You might want to check more like monthly, as biometrics appointments usually have a lead time of 2-6 weeks, and missing any appointment with USCIS can be taken as abandonment of your status. They should mail you an NOA for any action required, but mail gets lost, and sometimes they send to the wrong address etc.

That's correct in terms of travel - the experience differs airline to airline in terms of whether you'll be able to check in online etc.

With extension letter, online check in is usually not available. You would need to get to the airport earlier to check in at airline desk. It may take some time to explain what the letter is and how to do it. They're terrible at that sometimes.
