Has this ever happened to someone? I know it is normal to postpone an interview but mine sounds a little bit weird for Me so I just want to find out if anyone had experienced the same situation.

My N400 is scheduled for 1pm today, so at 9am, I got a call from

someone saying he works for USCIS and that I have an interview at 1pm, I confirmed with him

and he later said that unfortunately My interview will be rescheduled due to the fact that My file has not yet arrived. I was wondering why it took them up to 4 hours before the initial interview in order to contact Me and also I was wondering why My status has not changed on USCIS and also if someone has had this happen to them, how long did it take to get your interview and will it be the same 4-5 weeks span before next interview or is it going to be a shorter wait time once new letter arrives? Thank you for your time.

No, I received My 10 year GC in July. My interview is supposed to be in the next 30mins and I am still baffled at this last minute cancellation through phone, all he said was that they are still waiting on My case file, guess it is the N400 file.

That sucks, sorry to hear. They must have misplaced your file so hopefully they find it and schedule another interview soon.

Go and confirm yourself. Nothing to lose. I'd do so, this being a last minute call.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Guess it’s too late now because it’s 1:30pm

here now. I called the number he used and it just talks about USCIS working hours and some other stuff before saying “call again later, goodbye”.

Yes, this happened to me recently. My N-400 interview was scheduled for the first week of August 2022 in Detroit. About a week before the interview, I got a call from USCIS. I couldn't answer the call at the time, so the USCIS officer left a voicemail and email stating that they would have to cancel and reschedule my interview because my file had not arrived. Soon after, I got an "Interview De-scheduled" notice in my USCIS online account. A few hours later, I got a new N-400 interview notice in my online account. And yes, the new date was about 4-5 weeks from the original date. I figured that's how much time they needed to get the file over...

When I finally had my N-400 interview in Detroit and the USCIS officer called me in, I overheard another USCIS officer telling the applicant who had just been called in before me that they could not conduct her interview that day because her file had not arrived and they would need to reschedule. She was nearly in tears. I also heard the person checking in everyone at the entrance saying that it's not unusual nowadays for applicant files to be delayed or be "sitting on a loading dock somewhere".

Paper A-files stored in caves, this has been a problem many have faced.  Here's some interesting reading on this:

Where do I get their email? And also I don’t understand your message after “transfer”

FRC is a repository of federal records. FRC center in Lees Summit maintains USCIS A-files. Each center has three public email addresses. Sean Murphy is the Director of FRC Lees Summit. Transfer address is to request file transfer. I have attached both.
