I was refused a B1/B2 in 2020 during my MSc degree without funding and was on a temporal research assistant term but currently I’m a PhD student with full funding and attending a conference in the US this September. I need help and guidelines to overturn my previous refusals. Anybody with such experience can help me

thanks.

You will need STRONG evidence that you intend to return to your country.  Your previous refusals cannot be overturned, and they could be a factor.  How many other refusals have you experienced?

You don’t “overturn” previous refusals. Instead what you do is to show strong ties to your home country.

Also are you aware of the wait times for a visa interview?

Please complete your timeline. What country are you from?

I was refused in 2018 and 2019. I later realised my presentation was poor. I’m currently working on European funded project besides my PhD research and I have the grant letter as well.

How will those convince a Consulate Officer you plan to return home?

I’m from the United Kingdom

Curious then as to why you applied for a B rather than use VWP last time?

All you can do is show the evidence of ties you have (which sounds reasonable), however, it’s not at all clear you’ll get a visa in time for September, seeing ss London has a  170 day wait time for B visa appointments. If you are presenting at the conference (rather than just attending) you may be able to use that as an “urgent business reason” to get an expedited appointment.

My previous application wasn’t done in the United Kingdom, I moved to the UK late 2020 of the year and I’m not a citizen. I already have an appointment in July.

Yet UK was the answer you gave when asked what country you were from. Countries of nationality can be important when judging chances of refusals, especially if you are only in the UK on a student visa (this, again, is not clear), and we can only answer in accordance with the information posters provide. Incomplete information leads to incomplete advice.

What is your country of birth and citizenship?

Residence or nationality? Because Italians can use VWP too.

Your brother’s citizenship is not relevant to your visa.
