Didn't read it, don't need to.  Poppycock.  This has been happening LONG before the idiotic lockdowns.  (Though I'm sure they didn't help matters at all)

I agree with @LIBrty4all.  I am sure the lockdowns didn't help, but they certainly are not the Red X here.  I heard another analysis that the increased use of maryjane could also be a factor, this is even more of a potential, but again not the only factor.

The increased use of Weed?  LOL Doubtful. Most of the people I knew from my Gen smoked weed. The same people had forearms in their vehicles at school, carried Knives at school etc. All the weed made them want to do is eat, have sex and chill. Never once so a party where everyone was getting high be anything but mellow

Agreed. Sure if someone is smoking weed, drinking a lot, and mixing in some rx drugs or something maybe that would contribute. But just weed? Nah.

I am not saying I buy the hypothesis, but there is a connection to a lot of these mass killers.  Btw, when I am in my vehicle, this usually includes my forearms being in the vehicle.

I avoided the druggies when I was in high school, but I can say that pretty much everyone (the straighties and the druggies) kept at LEAST one forearm inside the vehicle at all times.

I take it back, sometimes when driving on a nice day with the windows open, my left forearm is outside the car.

 

As to the OP, the factors are plentiful, lockdowns certainly did not do anything to help with mental health, but one could also look at family life, bullying, social media, internet, groomers, lack of friends, etc.,
