Fiancée is off tot he airport to fly to Bogotá. Visa interview for K1 (and K2 for son) in Monday.

And, of course, just now I realized I completed the I-864 Affidavit of Support that typically is filed with immigrant visas and not the I-134 that is typically filed with non-immigrant visas like the K1. Damn.

In addition to the I-864 she also has:

Bank statement from 5+ years ago showing both our names.

Two credit cards on our joint accounts.

My IRS Transcripts for last 3 years.

My most recent year's W2.

Copies of all my paychecks for past 6 months.

Is this a problem? Anyone submit the I-864 on a K1 visa in Bogotá?

Yes, that is a possible problem.......The I-864 is not applicable for a non-immigrant visa sponsor.  Either send an I-134 or prepare for a refusal and delay.

Scrambling. Have a couple days. But my bank is online. Getting a document on bank letterhead won't happen. Ugh.

Not needed (bank document)  I didnt get one.  Statements suffice.  I pulled everything I needed for I-134 while I was out of the country.

The documentation you need is probably already there.  Just wrong form and I would hate to see a case delay for such a silly reason.

You had already filled out i864, all you need now to fill out is i134. All other documents can stay same. Why do you need your bank?

Instructions on the I-134 say to attach a bank reference letter.

Bank statement or letters needed only if your income is not enough. If your income was good enough for i864, it will be much better for i134, so no banks statement or letter required.

My income should be fine.   Sponsoring fiancée and one kid. No other dependents.  So family of 3. Income about $53K.

Cannot believe getting this close to the finish line and only now seeing this error.  My fault for just Googling "Affidavit of Support" and not realizing there are two versions.

Hoping so.   I can definitely pull bank statements. A year or more if they care.

And with my W2 and pay ships showing adequate income I am hoping all will be ok.  Still, scrambling.

I did, 12 months, helpfully highlighted the deposits, and summarized the total on a little excel sheet that I put in front as a cover page.

Like you, I wanted to make up for the “bank letter” which I didnt have a prayer of getting.  That is how I chose to do it.

The rest was tax returns for previous year’s earnings (tax transcripts)  + ytd income which was demonstrated using paystubs from the beginning of the year.

Everything obtained electronically.

Fill out the I-134, sign it, scan it, and email it to her this afternoon.  She can print it on her end and take it to the visa interview on Monday.  Good luck!

Managed to fill out the I-134, signed, scanned, and emailed.

She went in with a folder of 75+ pages of various documents,  not just the Affidavit of Support.  And was approved, pending sending in an original of one document that she only brought a photocopy of.  Sigh. Always something.
