Hey guys,

I haven’t been seeing new dates for interviews at the US embassy in Nigeria. Anyone know what’s going on? We were making a lot of progress! 😭

People are getting interviews they are probably just not on this website. There are K1 interviews pretty much every month for the remainder of this year except December. There are also interviews next year from January to March.

You can also check the statistics on the State Department website to see how many K1s are issued each month in Lagos. Use the Issuance by post format of the report.

Interview dates are currently not available in Nigeria... I've been checking for dates for the past 2 months now.

You're not checking at the right time the portal last opened with dates on August 10th with dates for January, February, and March 2022. There are limited amounts so they go quickly.

Lagos embassy has the following post as they still try to catch up with cancelled interviews from 2020

  • Applicants petitioned by U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (LPR), to include fiancées of U.S. citizens, whose immigrant visa interviews were scheduled between March 22, 2020 and June 30, 2020, and subsequently canceled due to the closure of routine visa services on March 22, 2020.  All affected applicants should have been contacted with a new interview date.

At this time they also have to complete DV lottery (originally to be completed by end of September by now extended)  and  F1 student visas

if you check the stats for last month for  visas issued (July) you can see what the embassy has done

NIV is for immigrant

and IV for nonimmigrant

and notice the IR1 issued as those people have waited 2 years or more

https://ng.usembassy.gov/visas/

we also have several emergencies here in US (major fires in the west and flooding in middle and eastern sections of this country)  Offices in these  areas are undergoing catastropies just to work (if they can) on a regular basis

Thank you but correct me if I am wrong. What’s happening in the States does not effect the embassy all the way in Nigeria does it?

what is happening with USCIS and NVC offices does effect every single visa application

if one office is shut down, they send packets to other offices for processing (1st stage)

and New Hamshire was hit hard by IDA with flash floods so any packet not yet at the embassy is subject to slow down / post is meant for all to see not just one case

if your case is at embassy,  you are one of the lucky ones but u still need patience

i know u want yours completed fast but what about all those ahead of u that still wait from dq in early 2020

And understand that the petition does not guarantee a visa / prepare for the interview good

and best to u both

Dear @JeanneAdil what of those that have there cases at the embassy, but they're finding it hard to pick an interview date? We've passed the USCIS and the NVC stage.... Filled DS-160... Getting an interview date is not possible from the portal

They've already gotten through the K1s that were canceled due to covid. They are now interviewing those that had been stuck at NVC since last year.

Do you think they will gradually open more dates??

Yea, it's just slow process. I think they are doing between 20 to 30 K1 interviews per month.
