Mandatory Vaccinations

Presuming that your fiancee's visa is granted, one of the important papers from home that she should obtain multiple copies (at least 2) of is her vaccination record from her doctor or clinic, stamped.  This is a very helpful and often overlooked document to have at hand.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

FYI our panel doctor told us to use the vaccination worksheet he did (he gave us copies), because it is in a format that is understandable to Americans. And when we forgot and tried to use the kids’ vax records from home, we were quickly reminded as to why - vaccines can have different brand names in different countries and (in this case the school district nurse) could not figure out properly what their vax schedule had been. Then I remembered about the worksheet and she was happy with that.

Is it true that my Fiance must have all of these vaccinations or she will fail the medical exam?

My fiance had 0 of the vaccines required.  Some require multiple shots.  It cost a lot more (like $800 total for her and her daughter) and they gave her a vaccine card and told her she needed to get the 2nd dose on X day once in America.  YES, you have to have every vaccine, but the only way you can fail is by refusing or not having the money to pay.  Otherwise, no worries, they are willing to complete follow up shots after arriving in USA.

The medical exam is where they give you the vaccines.  You don't fail it for not having the vaccine, as they will give it to you.

We are very close to scheduling our Medical Exam and Interview, but I ran across this little nugget tonight. Is it true that my Fiance must have all of these vaccinations or she will fail the medical exam? If so, I really wish our lawyer would've told us this a year ago.

You can add mandatory CoVID vaccines to that list https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/civil-surgeons/covid-19-technical-instructions.html

Note that OP's fiance would eventually do AOS from K-1 and if she doesn't meet the first 2 waivers then the 3rd one specifically states: "Not routinely available. If no COVID-19 vaccine is routinely available in the state where the Civil Surgeon practices"

The too young is under 12, so…

She has some vaccines, but we are guessing not all. Some of these, I've never heard of before. So now, we're wondering what happens if she needs 6 or more vaccines. I'm not going to pretend that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to vaccines, but I would think 6 different vaccines in a short period of time might not be healthy. This has me worried that we might need to push out the exam 3+ months after waiting an entire year already

I've done a lot of traveling and on occasions I've had several vaccinations in the same day. It never caused me any problems. The biggest issue is that some of them require 2 or 3 shots over a period of a few weeks and you're not fully vaccinated until you've had them all. So I'd get her to go to the doctor as soon as possible, and also get a timeline for when the 2nd and 3rd (if required) can be given.

She was here in July, and Covid was the one vaccine she got. And thank god because her daughter and dad got covid while she was here and she returned to a house full of Covid and never got sick. Hell of a vaccine!

Which of the vaccines did she get?
