  1. maybe the immigration folks are kind of administratively doing the 3 year green card as suggested and kind of converting it to a 3 year CG. The I-751 submission is now supposed to get a 2 year extension. Then the lifting conditions appointment is such a low priority that if you want something done, you file for citizenship and they will then make you a higher priority. You then do both both I-751 and citizenship at the same appointment which you hopefully get, because you filed for citizenship. So, it seems they don't want to handle just a I-751.
  2. I read a lot of stories on international dating forums. From that, it is not surprising to me that a daughter felt an obligation to support her parents and that family back in the Philippines. People trying to berate the posting for making a generalization, when this is something that does happen, often enough, in that culture. People need to be aware of that possible issue if they are dating someone from the Philippines.

  4. 125 percent of 2021 poverty level. 1.25 x 1 person level of $12880 = $16,100 1.25 x 2 person (mother with 1 child etc) $17,420 = $21, 775
  5. You can test for citizenship at the 3 year green card mark. I married my wife while she was on a tourist visa during covid. Having been married less than 2 years on the day of our appointment, she has only a 2 year conditional green card and we have to reapply to have conditions lifted within the last 90 days of the 2 years. However, if that appointment then doesn't actually happen until the 3 year date of the conditional green card issued, as it apparently happens for some, we can also apply for citizenship at the same time at the same interview. I think we will have to add the citizenship paperwork, but the official will first interview us both to lift the condition on the green card, and then i will leave the meeting and she stays for the citizenship interview/test. That was described to me by our immigration official who interviewed us for her conditional green card.
