Diabates and Visa

Hi everyone.....I just found out that I got type 2 diabetes and my mother has sign me up for a Visa when I was 19 years old so I guess its an underage visa. Now, I'm 23 years old and got Type 2 Diabetes. Will I have any problem? I mean my visa is awaiting for a interview and I'll have to take a medical exam. I should have had this interview last year but Covid happened.

Diabetes will not be an issue for your medical.

The medical is to check for things that may be a threat to the US population, like TB and make sure your vaccinations are up to date.

No, having diabetes should not cause you immigration problems. In fact, a lot of people in the US have type-2 diabetes and don't even know they have it. You just have to plan for any medical costs to manage it when you get to the US because healthcare/medication in the US is not cheap.

What do u mean by plan? I was thinking about buying a large amount of my pills for 3 months and then looking for a job. Will they ask me about my plan to handle diabetes in the interview? I don't have any kind of health insurance that can cover in the us but in my country I have the national healthcare that can provide me some pills.

Nothing will be asked about your diabetes what so ever, they are only concerned about your vaccinations and also about highly contagious diseases that could spread to people in the USA like this bug they say the world has going around

Insulin is a prescribed drug in the US

all prescribed drugs must be in zip lock type bag (on the plane) and have dr prescription attached 

not sure how much u are allowed to bring in but dr should be able to answer this

I mean start thinking about how once you enter the US you'll be paying for any potential treatments or medications.

what kind of medication are you on?

 

we can tell you how much it will cost without insurance. This is what you will need to know.

 

but having diabetes - is not a problem for immigration. paying for your medication will be another ballgame.

You’d better get a job with good health insurance. It’s not cheap being diabetic in the US.
