  1. Thanks so much for all your help. They added the portion about his physical residence to the document because we need it to be there for enrollment in our local school system.
  2. Thanks for that info. I’m hoping that the custody variation the lawyer has drawn up will be sufficient for him to acquire citizenship when my husband does. Does he have to have full custody for that to happen? The wording they have used is that they “shall act as co-guardians of the minor child.” The terms further down state what’s in the attached image. My husband is the defendant in the document, as our son’s mom is the one filing for the changes for us. Do you know if this would grant us the necessary custody required for him to acquire citizenship when my husband eventually naturalizes?
  3. We are currently at the NVC stage of our petition to bring my stepson to live with us in the U.S. (I am the petitioner and USC). My husband and his ex-wife are in the process of redoing the custody documents to give him legal and physical custody but the lawyers are moving so slowly. Obviously our priorities are not theirs. So, should our case progress quickly from here, would a signed affidavit from his mom be sufficient at the interview or would it be best if she took him to the interview? My husband was planning to fly down to go with him for his interview because we don’t want to mail all of our original documents in case it should be lost. It took almost a year just to get our marriage certificate from home affairs. We are guarding that thing with our lives. 😂
  4. Sorry it took so long to get back. Had a hectic week. It was my initial addition of household member I had issue with. The response seemed to be in reply to my inquiry but was not specific. Just a message saying that I was now able to add my household members supporting documents. A few days later, I got a direct reply to my inquiry restating that it was a known issue and to just keep logging in to check if it had been resolved. By that time, I had already submitted the documents. Glad to hear it was resolved for you as well. Here’s to hoping for quick turn around times for all of us.

  6. I received a canned email response on Friday and was able to then log in and add the necessary documents. It took 2 weeks after I filled out the public inquiry form. Good luck!
  7. I’ve been waiting almost 2 weeks. I called 4 days after I added my household member and was told It was a known issue and had to fill out the public inquiry form. The wait time for a reply is about 2 weeks. So, I suppose I should hear back early next week.
  8. On Friday I started uploading our documents to NVC. I am the USC petitioning for my minor stepson. I added my husband as family member as he (GC) is the breadwinner. I am a SAHM at the moment. His income is well over the 125% of the poverty line but my mom is acting as a joint sponsor because our tax return for 2020 doesn’t reflect our current income as we arrived in the states last year and it’s not a full years income. anyhow, I have added them on the CEAC but there is still n/a where I should be uploading their documents. Do I need to hit submit on mine first? When I was uploading the initial info needed, the pop up said that it should be about an hour before I could upload their Supporting documents but still says n/a.
  9. If you filed the I-130 a week ago, I would imagine it is notification that your petition has been sent to one of the processing centers. If you log in to the USCIS site, you should be able to see specifics on where it was sent.
  10. Thanks so much for your replies. So my mom would file an I-864, not an I-864A even though we live in the same residence?
  11. Good morning, our I-130 petition to bring my stepson to live with us in the US was approved and we are preparing to file our affidavit of support with NVC. So, I am the petitioner but have no income as a stay-at-home mom. We were previously living abroad and 2020 was my husband’s first year in the US. We arrived in February and He began his job in June (thanks, Covid). His annual income is sufficient to file on our own, but it doesn’t look like it going by our tax return for the year so my mom is filing as a joint sponsor. Because I have no income, does my husband file an I-864A or is our joint return and letter from his employer sufficient for the I-864? Also, we are currently building a house and will be all living together. My mom will have an in-law suite in the new house. So would she file an I-864 or I-864A?
  12. Good morning, I am in the process of filing to bring my stepson to live in the US with us. Quick overview of my situation: I was living abroad with my husband for several years. We decided to move this side. Because I was not employed while living overseas my mom acted as a co-Sponsor for my husband. We arrived in the US just before COVID so we were not working until June of 2020. Our tax return obviously only reflects 6 months of employment, which wouldn’t appear to be enough for sponsorship. My husband has received a promotion since and is now salaried. my question is this, is a letter of employment with his salary amount enough evidence that we can indeed support our son or should we ask my mom to co-Sponsor again? If she does! Will we need to pay filing fees twice or would both affidavits be covered with one fee?
  13. Thanks for the reply. I went on and just used the case number instead of logging in and it shows our case was approved. 😃
  14. I submitted an I-130 to begin the process of bringing my stepson to live with us here in the US. I filed Dec 2020 and this morning I got a text message and email saying action has been taken on my case but when I try to login, it says, “Error retrieving case status. Try again later.” Above that it says Case Closed. Is this a good thing or not? When I filed for my husband I was living abroad with him and everything went through the consulate, so this route is all new to me.
