Hey all,

My fiancé is at the point of interview and there is only 2 days available, like period. Has this happened to anyone else. He was told that he could schedule it for one of those 2 days and reschedule if a date closer to when he wanted to set it opens up.

I wish they would have let us pick. The embassy in mexico city emailed us a little over a week ago with an assigned interview slot (today!) and we couldn't change it at all. Calling and emailing the embassy were both futile, they said they can't change the date. Thankfully we were very organized going into this step, but it really messes up a vacation we had planned to go on together.

With all the turmoil with immigration scheduling if you can get a date set and can make it to interview take it, very hard to re-schedule with the massive backlog around the world. You got this and good luck.

Wouldn't that deprive someone else?  Just schedule the interview and attend it.

My understanding by reading and correct me if i am wrong they are telling him he has a chance to schedule a appointment out of 2 days total time if he can grab one that still leaves one open for someone else, am i wrong in reading it that way?

But if he schedules it then something happens and can not attend he will be dead in the water and fight for another appointment

Unfortunately, that risk exists for everyone in this time of extreme high demand for interviews.  I don't see the situation being resolved any time soon.

I might be wrong, but I thought the correct procedure (as stated by someone a year ago) was to reschedule after you miss the original appointment.  But, I realize different consulates have their own rules.

So it's a total of 6 slots over 2 days. He was told he could set an appointment and if another day later in the month opens he can reschedule to that one.

To further explain, the days that they gave might be before he can get his second police clearance certificate because of the shutdowns. So we were just wondering if there was a way to get wiggle room.

That’s okay if he doesn’t have all the documents. You can submit them later and I assume that would take faster than trying to reschedule these days. They’ll just give him a slip and tell him to submit missing stuff once he has them.

Just schedule an appointment and go to the interview. Doesn't matter if he doesn't have all the documents at the time of the interview, he'll get a chance to send them in afterwards.

I did that in back in Sweden, back then they only had two K-1 visa interviews one day a week (on Thursdays), so there was only a couple available appointments in the coming month. I grabbed one quickly before someone else took it, fully aware that I wouldn't have gotten my medical results yet by that date. The embassy then emailed me to move my date even closer to the medical date, so now there were only 2 business days between my medical and the interview (they recommend 2 weeks). The other K-1 person at the embassy that day hadn't even scheduled his medical yet. 😂
