I'm pulling out of the greencard process just before interview - will this effect future USA visits?

My medical and interview is in 4 weeks and I have decided to not continue with greencard (DV lottery) process. (The reason being as I need to have mandatory vaccines - which I don't want to hence I would get declined, so I think it is better to pull out at my own free will than to get declined).

  1. Will this effect future visits/holidays to USA?

  2. Will this affect applying for b1b2 which I may need with my current job in a the future?

  3. Should I ask embassy these questions or will it raise a reflag?

Can affect because you showed interest in immigrate to the US.

Yes that's what I am thinking but I also made a solid decision not to immigrate when I had the chance to immigrate by pulling out. Would I be stopped on my next vacation and sent back to my home country?

Run the titers (blood work) before you decide. You’re probably all good with required shots and it’s not flu season so they wouldn’t require that one. If you have a copy of previously given shots  they use that for verification or whenever you had an illness.

I'll had antibodies for MMR and chickenpox. Not for DTP however as my last DTAP jab was when I was a baby and gave me encephalitis and as I live in South hempmisphere I need flu shot. I've been trying to find away around it for over a month and sadly, came to my conclusion a few days ago that the visa just won't work for me (Ironically, I worked at a flight attention for 8 years and have travelled to over 80 countries and never get sick)

Yes, it could go either way here depending how the Co assesses the situation.

If there is a medical reason not to get a shot the doctor can give you a waiver for it.

I asked my immigration doctor about a waiver - they said out of all the waivers they have done no one has ever been accepted so its not worth trying. Hence, I have to give up :(

There should be a simple checkmark as not appropriate determined by the doctor on DS-3025. If you had an adverse reaction to the vaccine that should be enough to not have to do it again - just bring them the records from your physician. No waiver needed.

The immigration doctor said via email they have done that for applicants but its never worked so not worth trying. They did not sound like they wanted to support my request so I feel I'm wasting $1200 for nothing if Im just going to be told I dont get a visa and then get the decline on my record. Its better I just pull out myself...

You need to show some document from your own doctor and then present that one to the Doctor selected for the Consulate.

You giving it up the immigration visa before doesn’t mean nothing if you try a new visa. Will appear that: you had the intention, something happened and now you are trying other way to go there.

One of the goals to a consular officer when interviewing someone for a Non immigrant visa is looking if this person had ANY intention to immigrate, and you had. Doesn’t matter when.

But you can always try, will just cost you $160 aprox and some time.

Good luck

I strongly suggest you talk to another doctor. Just because this one said it will not work it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true.

The problem is most countries only have a couple of approved panel doctors, and generally if more than one the other one/s is/are physically very far. Also I believe OP is in Australia so also has lockdown rules to contend with if wanting to travel to another state for another doctor. So while this makes sense as a suggestion on its own it may not be practical to pursue.

Thank you for all your  info it was so helpful. One thing to note is even though I won the GC I didnt have any intention to immigrate permanently. A few of my friends have won the greencard and went over for a few years. I just viewed it as a way to go to American for 1-2 years max and be able to work as a fun experience (as there are no other ways to do that with my passport since I dont have a high skill or artist job). Once I got into the process and saw how demanding it was - mandatory vaccines, worldwide tax rules, I've released its not for me...

What would you recommend I tell the consulate for my reasons for pulling out - I feel the truth - vaccines, is best?

We've just got the one immigration medical doctor to go to in Auckland, NZ. I emailed the consulate and they were even less helpful than the immigration doctors
