Hi all!

I just received notice that my interview was scheduled in relation to my I-751 and was wondering if anyone had insight as to what the interview process entails?  Will my husband have to attend?  Our children?  What types of questions are asked?  I attended the first one on my own so this is new territory for me.

Thank you so much for any information!

Yes, he has to attend. See INA 216(c)(1)(B): "in accordance with subsection (d)(3), the alien spouse and the petitioning spouse (if not deceased) must appear for a personal interview before an officer or employee of the Department of Homeland Security respecting the facts and information described in subsection (d)(1)."

You got your conditional GC via marriage, and he did not attend the AOS interview?  That is very unusual.

Read the interview letter. It will list if he has to attend or not. Follow what it says.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Yes, I went with my spouse and it is typically required that the spouse go.

As far as what questions depends on your submission and how strong it was.  We were really only asked for tax transcripts for the year that passed since filing.  I brought updated financial documents and turned them over though not requested.

We didn’t really get grilled.  If they catch any flags of course that can change.

I've read on other threads of people reporting that the interview letter does not specifically state that the US citizen spouse must attend. Seems incredibly misleading to me.  @DFG, even if your letter does not state, USCIS still expects your US Citizen spouse to attend with you. :)

If you have a joint i751 application (non waiver case) your USA based spouse MUST attend your interview or you will likely be denied.

Plan on both of you to attend, children are not required unless USCIS request them to be there. Bring updated evidence and anything USCIS requests with you.

Ah.  OP said the husband didn't attend her "first interview," which I took to mean AOS.

I think the “first interview” was for her visa to come here in the US.
