I am filling out the I-864 online on the USCIS website and some of the fields are not allowing me to complete. For example: Page 4 Part 5 question 1.  I can't enter a number.  Part 6 is not allowing me to put anything but check a box and put total income.  I downloaded an out of date guide (2015) which is different to see if I am making a mistake that prevents me from filling out the fields.  No change.  I've searched on this site to see if there is any info.  I am not saying it isn't there just I don't see it.  How do I fix these issues?

Or if you have a Mac use Preview.

Any time the downloaded form won’t let you enter data, just add a text field from the app and then enter data.

Thanks for the info but it is no help.  I purchased Adobe Acrobat PDF and the USCIS files are encrypted and cannot be edited.  Don't see anything in Adobe to un-encrypted it.  Majorly frustrated with this whole process.

There is no reason to edit i864. Even a free adobe acrobat reader is good enough to fill everything unless some names are longer than the characters allowed.

On acrobat reader, do the following:

This is not to be filled by you, it gets autopopulated once you fill Part 3, item 29.

Once you check the appropriate box, it will allow you to fill in the related boxes.

Sorry instilled using Windows 9 years ago so I am out of practice .

Download.  Print the downloaded PDF to PDF.  Try editing that.

Point was the information was not populating.  That is why I reached out on this site.  dochub is solving my issue.  Adobe would not allow me to input anything to any field because USICS didn't give permission to edit, alter document, change, input into a field.  It is locked.

As long as it's solved that's fine. My point was i could fill i864 without using any editing software, just using a normal free acrobat reader. The forms are designed that way to be filled without any need of editing. When they receive the form, they will just the scan the bottom barcode and it will autofill everything on their computer. In your case, they will need to manually enter info due to the edits you make.

Big alarms going off right now.  There REALLY is NO REASON you would need to solve any issue with the form, if you download it and use Adobe Reader.  If you are trying to change the form, then you are trying to enter something that is not to be entered.  STOP.  Download the current instruction too.  Become and A Student of them, and then start completing the form.  Yes, really.  Yes, I'm sure.

Ok.  I went back and re-read and studied the I-864 guide.  I found a couple of misunderstandings.  I even filled out a paper copy of the I-864 and a possible joint sponsor.  Checked and rechecked. I did everything as pushbrk suggested.  I get to page 4, Part 5, Item 1 and nope.  It will not let me put a 1 in the field.  So I put a 1 in item 3 and the household size stays at 1.  Everything is correct.  What do I do now because it will not let me put the correct info in?

Because you are not supposed to put anything in Item 1. You put the number in Part 3 item 29 and it gets carried over to Part 5 item 1.

Are you using adobe acrobat reader or you are filling the form on the web?
