Wow!   I guess Joe doesn't need to worry about meeting with the thousands of US citizens whose families are stuck outside the US waiting out the LEGAL immigration process.  Priorities.....

There are thousands and thousands of others who SHOULD be a priority for Biden.......but I am not surprised by this slap in the face to so many people, many of whom, are members here on VJ.

For me, and the majority of Americans, DACA is the right thing to do morally, for society, and just practical  common  sense. Being for DACA doesn't depriotize repairing a bureaucratic and broken immigration  system, for everyone.

Why not both? Well, for one thing, everytime immigration reform comes up, the nativist forces start druming their BS and the Miller, Cruz and Hawley's of the world start with the demagoguery and Fox News plays along the noise even though Murdoch is an immigrant who became  citizen just to gain ownership of US TV stations to build his financial empire.

To my knowledge, Biden, himself, has not uttered one word about LEGAL immigration delays.

Nothing wrong with doing the right thing, but do it properly.  An EO is not the proper way to do this.  I see this is all about the GOP again, I guess you are blind to how both sides play the immigration reform game.

I am not blind to how both parties have played the topic over the years for their own perceived short term political advantage. In the past, Democrats have had a anti immigrant bias and the Republicans were the leaders in free markets and immigration.  My point is, the time is past to fix things for the DACA recipients AND to fix/fund the immigration system that is tied to 1940s policy and perspective.

My point is that no one in DC today wants to fix immigration.  Trump offered quite a bit to try and get Congress to do something including making a decision on the DACA item.  Those in Congress on both sides would rather keep it as a campaign item than actually do something about it.  Fixing immigration should only proceed after the border is secured and visa overstays are taken care of.

I agree.  The country is no longer in need of and cannot afford to admit just anyone who shows up at the border.  It's time for merit based immigration .

Exactly, our spouses were smart enough to marry us, so they merit immigration.

Reality is sometimes harsh.  The US cannot house, feed, and provide medical care to everyone in the world who wants to live here.

Vote mining

I would not be opposed to a guest worker program tied to unemployment, if they shut down the border otherwise. 50% of the people in an neighboring county are on some form of Guberment assistance.

Yet they have to import people from south of the border to pick peaches and work in the packing shed because they can't get locals to work

You need to get pandering  lessons from t-bone.

For the record, I picked  my share of fruit back in the day. And none of these girly 8 foot trees you have today, we were up there in the clouds.

We really need to return to legal child labor. That would build character and fill the larder. Just saying.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."
