Hello everyone,

 

I don't frequent Visa Journey much anymore but my husband and I filed our I751 (petition to remove conditions) and it was received on 05/05/2021. Our case online still says "Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken" which hasn't changed since we filed. Has anyone heard of any May 2021 filers getting approved? Or perhaps what month they are currently working on? We received our extension letter for 48 months a few weeks ago.

Which service center?

Can you submit case inquiry?

People from later months are being approved. For example, WAC is processing December 2021 cases.

As for the service center, the beginning of our Application request number is YSC and the address says Arlington VA (Potomac).

When I go to the USCIS processing times page online and put in my date of 05/05/2021 it says: 

Your case is processing normally.

The earliest you can submit questions is October 12, 2023. Please do not contact us before this date.

That's annoying to say the least! Your options are:

- Keep waiting

- File N-400 in hopes it will help I-751

- Sue USCIS for decision on I-751

We're on pretty much the same timeline - I submitted the I-751 on 05-12-2021 and am also being processed at YSC (Potomac). Unfortunately, our situation is the norm for YSC as the processing times just keep getting slower and slower at that location. I returned from a trip abroad yesterday, and the CBP officer actually laughed when I showed him the 48-month extension letter (I should also note that he did not give me any difficulties - he just seemed incredulous that it's taking so long).

 

The current average processing time for I-751 at YSC is 28 months - as you say, that would mean we could reasonably expect a response around October. However, since the processing times have been getting consistently slower, I would not be at all surprised if that stretched into early 2024. I submitted my N-400 citizenship application last November and am hoping that will speed the I-751 along a bit (though there are no guarantees that it will). I'm sorry that things are still so slow and dysfunctional!

Thank you for sharing your story. Glad to know its not just us! I guess we were both unlucky in getting the slowest service center haha.

We plan to visit England sometime this year and have not yet flown out of the country since getting married. We are a little nervous about the only proof of entry being that 48 month extension letter (with expired greencard)! But glad to hear it went smoothly for you. (we just don't want to lose that letter!!)

Don't worry. As long as you have the 48-month letter and your expired green card, they have to let you in as you still have legal permanent residency. I was anxious about this too, but have travelled to the UK several times on the extension letters (with and without my spouse) and have never had any issues. It's mostly just annoying to have to carry the letter around - I keep mine in a plastic sleeve with the expired green card to make sure they aren't lost or damaged. I also carry the older letters of extension and my expired UK passport (in addition to my current one) but no one has ever asked to see those.

Our N 400 interview is in May we filed in July 2022

Finally some movement on the N-400, filed in August, 2022.  Maybe a combo interview, we'll see.  Interview is in early June.

Congrats, keep us posted on how it goes. If you don’t mind sharing - how much notice (days/weeks) have they given you for the interview?

Case was already approved back in Feb 2022. Somehow, the system never showed. The IO cancelled the 751 interview and went ahead with N400 directly.

Interesting. So I-751 was approved in 2022 and you never got 10 year GC or notice of action?
