NVC Rejecting Birth Cert Translation Previously Accepted

Hi all,

 

We submitted a PDF compilation of beneficiary's Birth Certificate (original, pg 1), Birth Certificate (translation, pg 2), and note on the back of the translation certifying it (pg 3, below)

 

Note that it's notarized. I don't know how more official you can get than that. I understand that translations can be done without being this official, but we had this sitting around from when spouse attained Irish Naturalization. The translated birth cert is pretty much identical in format to the original save for being in English, and is typed out, not hand written.

 

NVC accepted this and we were DQ'd in October. After finally receiving our interview date we checked back today to review and found we received a "POST feedback" note, dated the 19th, see below

 

Where do I go from here (reaching out via "Ask NVC," reuploading the same PDF with a note, something else?), is this their mistake or is the translation inadequate?
I understand that the translation certification is not accompanied by any statement of "I understand both languages," could this be their rationale?

It appears the certification statement doesn't meet the standards.  In addition, could they even contact the person who did the translation?  That phone number is 18+ years old. Anyway, that would be my guess....  Good Luck.

That's what I was thinking, that it either isn't the way they want it or that they just didn't look past the first page. The Beneficiary can translate their own documents, right? So long as it's accompanied by the following statement?

Correct.

I translated my own birth certificate from German.  I just stated I was qualified to do so.  But honestly, the German words were so like the English ones, most anyone could have done it...

This or you can get one of those cheap translation agencies. I know one for $20 and you get it within 2 days. All you have to do is upload a scan/ picture of what needs to be translated

Have you called NVC?  
I had a similar problem and it was due to the computer not automatically recognizing the document because it wasnt in the ‘“programmed “ form for computer to recognize it. When I called they had to submit it for a human to review the document and approve it.

I didn't, I figured (as Lucky Cat said) it was probably a viability issue since it doesn't expressly state that the translator knows both languages to competence. It's not a big deal to just redo the translation, and frankly it seems easier to redo it than to try to get through to someone that will give me a non-generic answer. If I still have problems after the new translation then I'll reach out.

Makes sense. I just thought Id throw in what happened to me just in case. I didnt know computers ‘reviewed’ the documents until the problems with my document.
