When we found out that you needed to report our marriage to the Philippines Embassy in Houston, Texas we went on-line and reviewed the requirements, man oh man it brought flashbacks to the 129F,  St Lukes and the Embassy in Manilla.  So much paperwork and the necessity to file original documents.  We tried are very best to comply and sent notarized copies, 4 of everything, and to our surprise they returned our application and  said they would only accept original documents and then laid out 7 additional requirements.  We called the Embassy and tried to make an appointment and they said they would not allow us to make an appointment, but we could come in and take a chance they would see us.  I am blown away with the paperwork requirement and we are seriously considering not complying.  If we don't record the marriage what is the downside?

The only downside is that if your wife wants to renew her passport or will have to be in the maiden name

There’s actually no rush in doing report of marriage. I did mine just before I renew passport which is 3 years after marriage. The only downside is you cant use your married name in the passport.

i also filed at PCG Houston since I lived in texas. The PCG houston is more updated at their Facebook page as compared to their website.

Currently, they are not doing onsite applications. Only mail applications are accepted. This started after one of their staff got covid

do you have all the originals? They would only look at it to verify and return it.

This is why I have never considered doing it, I figured it would be a lot of red tape and typical Philippine maze of paperwork to have to supply them.  They love falling in line and having lots of requirements in the Philippines.

Downside is really none.  I could see you maybe being arrested/or have a case brought against you in Philippines if you got a divorce and you had reported your marriage.  They love to bring cases so you can settle for cash in the Philippines.

We did our ROM and it wasn't a big deal.   Granted we did it in Hong Kong and dropped it off on a sunday morning.  It took about 3 months to get it "recorded" in the Philippines.  We should have done her passport at the sametime but we were moving that week.

Really not much difference as it relates to the OP

I guess one must be politically correct.  I thought visajourney was to help with problems, not to correct people for a simple oversight.

It quite apparent someone needs to learn what the the term "politically correct" actually means.

YMMV
