Study shows double-masking -- medical mask under cloth -- cuts COVID-19 spread
By Brian P. Dunleavy

April 16 (UPI) -- Wearing a disposable medical procedure mask under a cloth face covering significantly reduces the flow of respiratory droplets from the nose and mouth, which could limit the spread of COVID-19, a study published Friday by JAMA Internal Medicine found.

So-called "double masking" -- or wearing two coverings over the nose and mouth -- improves fitted filtration efficiency, a measure of a barrier's ability to block particles, by up to 81%, the data showed.

Actually, I wear a single mask, too, when I am inside a business...and I am fully vaccinated....two masks might make it difficult to get enough oxygen.

1) There is a chance that you can become infected after receiving the vaccination. There has been several thousand cases documented.

2) It is still yet very unknown how effective the vaccination will be against various strains emerging. Saw several concerning scenarios suggested today.

3) It is already announced that a booster shot will be needed likely by fall, followed by one every year that is IF we can get a handle on it. Big IF imo.

4) Everyone would need to be individually tested to know how strong their antibody response is to the vaccination. Everyone is different.

5) Everyone seems to act as if the vaccine is the miracle cure. It's not. The virus is still wild, changing, and is not eradicated. Infections continue and there is not herd immunity. Perhaps people just seem to take vaccines for granted and don't actually care to understand how they work.

6) Doctors had already been putting several masks on, and with good reason. Depending on the fit on one's face it might even be a great idea.

7)It is unlikely that pillows would be effective. However if one day we discover pillows are effective, you might want to ring up that Lindel guy.

8 ) I routinely continue to see people wearing poorly fitting masks. A better fitting one out of better materials would serve correctly, but if a combination of two masks is what could help in a pinch, go to it.

This has been Yuna's TED talk. She is currently feeling the effects of Bill Gate's microchips, and if someone wants to wear two masks or ten masks, that's just fine with her provided it's not laying in a hospital bed for months hooked up to a ventilator because someone was too stupid and refused to wear one.

So we will be wearing masks in perpetuity?  I understand you favor a zero risk mentality, so when are we going to outlaw going outside ever again?

In context..

“These findings should offer hope to the millions of Americans receiving COVID-19 vaccines each day and to those who will have the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated in the weeks ahead,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC, said in a statement. “The authorized vaccines are the key tool that will help bring an end to this devastating pandemic.” Still, the CDC has not issued new guidance on how the vaccinated should behave; its current guidance is that they continue to take precautions such as masking.

IIRC, 75 vaccinated people have died of Covid to date. There is no way for that to happen that does not entail "carrying the virus".

Despite the vaccine rollout and the warmer weather, several rural counties in Washington had to roll back to phase 2 this week. This won't last forever, but it is no time to ignore the guidelines.
