I submitted the document on January 22nd. I did the entire packet online. Put together some .pdf files for my evidence. Most were scans. I also made a nice collage of our pictures with dates, location and context. I put that in pdf format as well.

I have been checking the uscis website every day. On March 24th it changed to "USCIS is actively reviewing the case" don't remember verbatim but something like that. On March 26th it changed to case approved.

The processing center was in Nebraska. Their website says it usually takes 7.5 to 9 months. According to visajourney NOA1 to NOA2 also usually takes about 7 months.

The question I have is did I get lucky or is this the new standard? Is this due to the new administration?

Reason I ask is because we fully planned to wait 12-18 months for the Visa. If all of a sudden we're going to get it in 4-6 months that changes things a lot. We just had a baby and we agreed not to take her to US until she was 1 year old. Back when the visa was going to take 12 months that wasn't a problem.

Obviously not a bad problem to have. I read that the visa is issued for 6 months.

But you guys seem to know so much about the process was hoping maybe you knew something I don't.

Thank you ahead of time.

Once the case is at NVC, you can slow the process down if you want.

NVC includes the following message in their emails:

Quote

IMPORTANT: If you do not log into CEAC or communicate with NVC regarding this immigrant visa case for a period of one year, by law the Department of State must terminate your visa application.

Keep in mind also that even if approval by USCIS was fast, there may be a large backlog for interviews after the case is complete at NVC. This will vary by consulate. Please fill out your VisaJourney timeline - that will help the estimates on this site be more accurate and will be helpful to others.

This is great news. Did you apply directly to NSC

My case was transferred from Texas to Nebraska after 27 days and I am wondering if this is a good thing or bad based on previous negative feedback regarding NSC's processing times.

It would be helpful if you can share your timeline.

Best of luck!

As you may be learning right now, no one applies directly to a service center. The petition is either filed online, or the paper version is sent to one of the lockboxes based on where the petitioner currently lives. From there it is assigned to a service center, and it's entirely possible for the case to be transferred during the process.

Everyone who posted in this thread so far has a completed timeline that you can review, which includes relatively fast approvals at the Nebraska Service Center.

Thank you JKL for the feedback. Now I know. I see that Nebraska is processing cases faster and hope this is applicable to my case that just landed there as well.

Nebraska service center is the quickest right now where people are getting approved in a matter of days and weeks. Count your blessings and good luck!!

Certainly do count your blessings if you get a fast approval! We got NOA1 for our i-130 from Nebraska in early July last year, coming up 9 months now and we haven't heard a single peep from them, even after a case enquiry. It's really nice to see others getting approved so fast and avoiding similar frustration, but I just don't understand the logic of this system at all... 🤷‍♂️

We also got our NOA1 from Nebraska.  We filed in early May last year and had no progress with our case all throughout 2020.  When our case passed 8 months, we tried logging an e-request for "Out of Normal Processing Time", but the system would not let us.  Then we found out that the reason our case had been taking much longer than the estimated time for Nebraska was that it was actually not being processed in Nebraska -- our case had been transferred to Potomac.

Have you been able to get confirmation from a USCIS agent, either through the hotline or via Ask Emma online chat, about which service center your case is actually being processed?

What did you actually type to Emma in order to find where your case is located at? I filed Feb this year and I'm super confused where my case is since Online says 'Nebraska' whereas the letter stamp I got was from Potmac Service Center and the address on the I-797 says California Service Center. So I'm curious to know where is my case actually at? I also filed with my green card and plan to upgrade my petition once I become USC.

Type "talk to representative".  Once you get a response from a human agent, provide your I-130 receipt number and ask which service center is processing your petition.

We actually spoke to an online representative today who said our case was at Potomac! Which is odd because we were able to file an "Out of Normal Processing Time" online service request after 8 months, and the service request referral number ended in NSC, which I assume means the request was handled at the Nebraska Service Center.

So we're not sure what to believe now, although it being moved to Potomac would explain the massive delay, we can still submit a service request based on Nebraska processing times? With a Nebraska referral number? I can't make sense of it at all...
