It could be either legislative or regulatory depending on the way its addressed. If the underlying law (INA 212(a)(4)) isn't changed then it would have to be a regulatory change. Otherwise, it would have to be the legislative process to significantly change INA 212(a)(4).

I guess you and I interpret elections differently.    The only think this past election showed was the unpopularity of one person...Trump......period.  State legislatures are increasing become more red.....The Democrats in The House of Representatives lost a lot of seats, and they are in real danger of losing control in 2022.....It is very possible, imo, that both the Senate and HOR will be controlled by Republicans in 2 years. .  Heavily left?????   Hardly.....

my main point is a lot of illegals  work as migrants going from one camp to another for very little pay  and how can they afford the fees to adjust their status/ they are also scared to death of getting sent back and don't trust people who try to help 

so documenting them is going to be hard

Also, I don't have any student loan debt, so there needs to be a clause for people like me.  If they are going to pick all the money off the money trees and give $50 k student debt relief, how about giving the rest of us $50 K in McDonalds coupons?  Growing the additional money trees needed will help the environment too and should be part of the Green New Deal.  The McDonalds coupons will help grow the $15 minimum wage market and McDonalds can be a be a great career path!  Final thought.  That darn California high speed rail isn't going to do any good for anyone.  Let's redirect it under the Pacific Ocean and it could be used to ferry solar panel workers back and forth to the U.S.  Should be doable.

1. How much did you pay for your VISA?

2. How much did you pay for your medical or other documentation (police records, etc.)

3. How much did you pay for your adjustment of status application, fingerprinting, etc.?

4. How much did you pay for your EAD/AP cards (if not free in the AOS status)?

5. How much did you have to pay to release conditions?

 

Then there is this...

 

1. As a family based sponsor, I had to complete paperwork stating I will support the petitioner almost indefinitely.

2. I have to provide health insurance or she becomes a public charge.

3. I had to meet income levels to be able to sponsor.

4. There was a requirement that I maintain my income to be able to support the petitioner EVEN during Covid.

 

Then there is this...

 

1. Since 2019 I'M STILL WAITING FOR OUR GREEN CARD APPLICATION TO BE APPROVED. No interview, nothing other than EAD/AP renewals.

 

So, to state that I'd be okay with someone who ran across the border or got here through other means being fast tracked? Like H*&^ I'd be okay with that. If they meet the same requirements as I had to, and wait at the back of the line then so be it. If not, refund me all my money or face a request for an injunction and forfeiture of all forms, fees, and claims to either myself or my wife. Fair is fair, and thousands upon thousands of dollars in fees is not fair for some to bear, especially if we get moved to the back of the line.

 

Now the good that could come from this...

 

1. Maybe they remove the backlog and just go back to approving family based applications on the merit of the application (no interview).

2. Hopefully they'll get rid of that stupid I944 for all new applicants.

3. Hopefully they'll rid us all of that dreaded I-864 form which no matter who says what is akin to indentured servitude to the government.

 

To those of you still waiting, I wish you the best and hopefully we'll all get the cards! To those that have already received them, congrats and get your Citizenship as soon as you can!

Some good points here.  I think legal immigrants would have a good case for a class action lawsuit.
